Hublot Pays Tribute To Lucerne With The Classic Fusion Chronograph Special Edition
Hublot has unveiled the Classic Fusion Chronograph Boutique Lucerne special edition, a timepiece that pays tribute to the medieval Swiss city of Lucerne. One of the most iconic landmarks in Lucerne is the Kapellbrücke, or Chapel Bridge, which dates back to the 13th century and is recognized as the oldest wooden pedestrian bridge in the world. Alongside it stands the historic Stone Water Tower, both serving as inspirations for this exclusive watch.
The highlight of this Classic Fusion Chronograph is its intricate wood marquetry dial, crafted from remnants of the wood salvaged from the devastating 1993 fire that nearly destroyed the Chapel Bridge. The dial showcases a striking checkered pattern seamlessly inlaid with carbon, enhancing the watch’s distinctive aesthetic. Faceted indexes and hands complement the design, while two black subdials accommodate the running seconds at 3 o’clock and a 30-minute chronograph register at 9 o’clock. A date window positioned at 6 o’clock features a black background, harmonizing with the printed white minute track along the edges. Completing the dial layout is a central chronograph seconds hand, boasting the brand’s logo as a counterweight, which is also elegantly drawn on the sapphire crystal at the 12 o’clock position.
Encased in a 45mm titanium case with a height of 13.40mm, the watch features an aged aesthetic, achieved through a scratched and blackened effect that covers the entire case. A smooth bezel, secured by six signature screws, frames the sapphire crystal protecting the dial, while the transparent case back offers a partial view of the movement, adorned with an artistic depiction of the Kapellbrücke. The fluted crown at 3 o’clock, bearing the Hublot insignia, is flanked by two block-shaped pushers, ensuring seamless chronograph functionality. Water resistance is rated at 50 meters, adding practical durability to the watch’s sophisticated design.
Powering the Classic Fusion Chronograph Boutique Lucerne is the automatic HUB1143 movement, based on the reliable Sellita SW300-1, enhanced with a Dubois Dépraz chronograph module. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement houses 59 jewels and delivers a power reserve of up to 48 hours. The movement’s intricate craftsmanship can be partially admired through the sapphire crystal case back, further elevating the watch’s appeal to collectors and enthusiasts.
The timepiece is paired with a vintage brown calf leather strap, perfectly complementing its rustic aesthetic, and also includes an additional black rubber strap. Both straps are secured with a deployant titanium clasp that mirrors the case’s aged finish. Available exclusively at Hublot’s boutique in Lucerne, this special-edition masterpiece is priced at CHF 15,900, offering a rare blend of horological artistry and historical significance for discerning collectors.
