Hublot Expands The Big Bang Universe With The New Reloaded Collection
At this year’s Watches and Wonders, Hublot reinforces its flagship Big Bang line with a broad range of new releases, headlined by the Big Bang Reloaded collection. Rather than introducing a completely new concept, the brand evolves its core platform with updated materials, refined dial architecture, and a stronger emphasis on its in-house chronograph movement.
Big Bang Reloaded: Movement-Led Design
The new Big Bang Reloaded series introduces five core references—Titanium Ceramic, All Black, Blue Ceramic, Dark Green, and Magic Gold—all housed in the familiar 44 mm case.
At the heart of each model is the HUB1280 Unico manufacture movement, a self-winding flyback chronograph that becomes the visual focal point of the watch. The openworked dial has been further refined, allowing a clearer view of the movement’s architecture, while the column wheel is positioned dial-side for both functional precision and visual impact.
From a technical perspective, the movement integrates a flyback chronograph, enabling instant reset and restart of the timing functions without interruption. It delivers an approximate 72-hour power reserve, supported by an automatic winding system and a fully integrated chronograph construction. The dial layout has also been reworked to improve legibility, ensuring that the skeletonized design remains practical for everyday use.
Material innovation continues to play a key role in the collection. The combination of titanium and ceramic offers a balance between lightness and robustness, while Hublot’s proprietary Magic Gold stands out for its enhanced resistance to scratches, reinforcing the brand’s focus on durability alongside aesthetics.
Limited Editions: Performance Meets Watchmaking
Two limited editions extend the Reloaded concept through collaborations with elite athletes, bringing distinct visual identities while maintaining the same mechanical foundation.
The Big Bang Reloaded Usain Bolt edition features a 44 mm case combining ceramic and carbon, enriched with design elements that reference the sprinter’s legacy. The chronograph seconds hand is shaped like a lightning bolt, immediately tying into Bolt’s iconic nickname, while engraved details on the watch add further personalization. A symbolic element integrated into the caseback connects the piece to his early training environment. Despite these aesthetic differences, the watch retains the HUB1280 Unico flyback chronograph with a 72-hour power reserve and is produced in a limited run of 200 pieces.
The Big Bang Reloaded Kylian Mbappé edition takes a more understated approach. Its 44 mm case blends white ceramic with 18K King Gold, creating a refined contrast between materials. The skeletonized dial is executed in grey tones, with subtle gold accents referencing Mbappé’s number 10. The same HUB1280 movement ensures identical performance, while interchangeable strap options—ranging from rubber to fabric—add versatility to the overall package. Like the Bolt edition, it is also limited to 200 units.
A Focused Evolution of the Big Bang
With the Reloaded collection, Hublot continues to build on one of its most recognizable designs. The emphasis is clearly placed on enhancing the technical and visual aspects of the Big Bang, particularly through the prominence of the Unico movement and the ongoing exploration of advanced materials.
