How Cool is The New Q Timex Chronograph?
Timex presented this week its latest member of the Q family and after many variants, including dive and digital, now comes the chronograph version.
When just over a week ago the chronograph version of the Waterbury line was launched, which if you want to know more you can read here, now arrives the Q Timex Chronograph.
The new chronograph maintains the classic and retro lines of its 70s roots, features the same stainless steel case base as the dive version with hiding lugs, with dimensions of 40mm in diameter by 13.5mm in thickness, a finish that varies between brushed and polished, black tachymeter bezel, mineral glass front and a solid four screws case back, fluted crown at three o’clock engraved with the ‘Q’ logo and two pushers that control the chronograph functions, plus 50 meters of water resistance.
It is in the tone of the dial that the two variants are distinguished, where we can find a Panda dial with a cream/beige dial and black totalizers and an inverted Panda dial with a black dial and cream/beige counters. On the dial plated applied hour indexes, the ‘Q’ logo at 12 o’clock and hour and minute hands filled with beige luminescent material, centre lollipop seconds hand, date window matching the dial at 4 1/2 o’clock, 24-hour counter at 3 o’clock, 60-minute counter at 6 and running seconds at 9.
Living up to the story, the Q Timex Chronograph comes equipped with a Quartz movement, the Japanese Epson YM12a, which features 1/5 second chronograph timing and five-year battery life.
The two variants come with a black or brown leather strap matching the dial with quick-release spring bars and can be purchased for €199, while the black dial version can also be purchased with an alternative steel bracelet with a deployment clasp for €219.
Our Opinion
Without a doubt, the chronograph version of the Q Timex does not disappoint and its alternating black and cream tones give it the charm of the 70s, what we love.
We didn’t like any in particular but all of them, and we especially applaud the attention given to details such as the date window in the dial tone framed with the hour indices, the double lollipop second hand and the ‘Q’ logo at 12 o’clock.
In short, it all looks pretty symmetrical and balanced on a watch under €200, after all, who said you had to spend a lot of money to look good and look cool?
