How Cool Is Casio’s New Analog Pro Trek PRJ-01?
Before diving deeper into advanced outdoor instruments, Casio is introducing a new entry point to its Pro Trek collection with the PRJ-01, a model that prioritizes simplicity, everyday comfort, and practical functionality. Instead of relying on digital displays and an extensive list of sensors, the latest Pro Trek embraces a clean three-hand layout while retaining the rugged DNA that defines the collection.
A Simpler Take on the Pro Trek Formula
The biggest change is the move to a fully analog display, a first for the Pro Trek family. Gone are the digital screens and the familiar Triple Sensor package (compass, altimeter/barometer, and thermometer), replaced by a straightforward layout featuring central hour, minute, and seconds hands and a discreet date window positioned at 4:30.

Powering the watch is a solar-powered quartz movement, capable of running for approximately five months on a full charge, while also providing a low battery warning when needed.
Compact and Comfortable
One of the PRJ-01’s strongest selling points is its size. Measuring 39.10 mm in diameter, the resin case is considerably smaller than many previous Pro Trek models, making it one of the most wearable watches in the collection. It should appeal not only to outdoor enthusiasts but also to those looking for a lightweight everyday adventure watch.

The case remains robust and offers 100 meters of water resistance, ensuring it is ready for hiking, camping, or daily use.
Innovative Rotating Bezel
A distinctive feature of the new model is its rotating bezel, which offers two different configurations.
In its standard position, the bezel gives the watch a unique geometric appearance. Rotating it places additional protection around the crown, helping shield it from accidental impacts during outdoor activities.
The bezel markings can also serve as a basic navigational aid, allowing users to estimate direction using traditional compass techniques when combined with the position of the sun.
Designed for Outdoor Readability
Although the PRJ-01 abandons the LED backlight found on previous digital Pro Trek models, visibility in low-light conditions is maintained through Neobrite luminescent coating applied to both the dial and the hands.

The clean analog layout further improves legibility, reinforcing the watch’s focus on simplicity and ease of use.
Two Strap Configurations
Casio will offer the PRJ-01 with a NATO-style resin strap that passes beneath the case.

The PRJ-01AE versions add even more versatility by including a carabiner attachment, allowing the watch to be clipped onto a backpack, belt loop, or other outdoor gear when not worn on the wrist.
Three Launch Variants
Casio is introducing the Pro Trek PRJ-01 in three different references, each distinguished by its color scheme and included accessories.
The entry-level PRJ-01-1 features a black resin case accented with yellow details on the dial and bezel. It comes fitted with a matching black resin strap.

Stepping up are the PRJ-01AE-8 and PRJ-01AE-7, both of which include an additional carabiner attachment, allowing the watch to be clipped to a backpack or other outdoor gear. The PRJ-01AE-8 pairs a black case with blue accents, while the PRJ-01AE-7 stands out with a white resin case complemented by orange accents. Both models are supplied with a resin strap matching their respective case colors..
Pricing and Availability
The new Casio Pro Trek PRJ-01 is currently listed in Japan with a retail price of approximately USD 157, while the PRJ-01AE variants cost USD 194.
Casio has not yet confirmed international availability, but a broader global release is expected in the coming months.
