Historic Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Wins At Villa d’Este
The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este held on Lake Como, Italy, one of the most prestigious classic car events, concluded with a display of automotive and horological craftsmanship. From May 24th to 26th, the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este hosted around 50 of the world’s most remarkable vintage automobiles. This year, an Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 from 1932 emerged as the winner.
Since 2012, A. Lange & Söhne has honoured the “Best of Show” winner with a unique timepiece. Wilhelm Schmid, CEO of A. Lange & Söhne, presented the winner with a custom 1815 CHRONOGRAPH in white gold, featuring a hand-engraved hinged cuvette and a solid pink-gold dial. “Chronographs symbolise the close connection between motorsport and timekeeping,” Schmid remarked.
Lange & Söhne also showcased the DATOGRAPH UP/DOWN in white gold with a blue dial and the DATOGRAPH PERPETUAL TOURBILLON HONEYGOLD “Lumen,” celebrating 25 years of their chronograph tradition.
Looking ahead, A. Lange & Söhne will sponsor the first Concours of Elegance Germany on July 26th and 27th, 2024, at Lake Tegernsee. The event will feature around 50 rare cars and 150 automotive rarities. The “Best-of-Show Award,” determined by car owners, will be presented by Schmid, alongside the “Thirty Under 30” category award.
“Our horological works of art splendidly complement the automotive masterpieces at Lake Tegernsee,” Schmid noted. “We are honoured to participate in the first Concours of Elegance Germany, celebrating engineering artistry and automotive passion.”
Lange & Söhne continue to celebrate and preserve the timeless traditions of motorsports and horology for future generations.
