Here It Is, the Seiko 5 Sports GMT is Now Official.
As we had announced here first-hand in mid-April, the Seiko 5 Sports GMT hits the market in July, being the first GMT of the Seiko 5 series.
Everything that we had advanced is confirmed, starting with the design that is based on the legendary SKX, a bestseller from Seiko that even today and despite having been discontinued for some time, continues to sell and whose prices have been increasing successively, being today difficult to buy any of the models for less than €600/700, more than triple the price when it was launched on the market.
The new Seiko 5 Sports GMT appears over three colour variants on the dial, with two variants that come with a black or blue dial and red GMT hand, and a third variant that comes with an orange dial, a black GMT hand and gilt accents. In addition, all models also feature a date window with cyclops at 3 o’clock and hour markers and hands filled with Lumibrite on the dial.
The case has almost the same dimensions as the Seiko 5 Sports introduced in 2019, featuring 42.5mm in diameter by 13.6mm in thickness, just an increment of 0.1mm in thickness. Finally, the watch is offered with a steel Jubilee bracelet, inspired once again by the old SKX model, and will be on sale from July in a selection of official brand boutiques and authorized retailers around the world for the recommended price of €470.
Our Opinion
It will probably be a new Seiko bestseller and one of the GMT hot killers on the market.
The option for the SKX design continues to be a successful bet for the brand, and after having a bet on the new Seiko 5 Sports, the option now for the GMT will certainly make the brand’s huge legion of fans happy.
