Have Your Say: Help Seiko Choose The Next Prospex 1965 Diver

In a rare and refreshing move, Seiko is inviting its global audience to help shape the future of its next-generation Prospex diver’s watch. Marking the 60th anniversary of the brand’s first-ever dive watch—the iconic 62MAS from 1965—Seiko will let enthusiasts choose the final look of the upcoming 2026 Prospex 1965 Diver.

This participatory design campaign is built around a modernized version of the classic diver. The base model is the recently launched Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver SPB511, which will serve as the foundation for the 2026 release. It features a 40mm stainless steel case, 300m water resistance, a screw-down crown, and a sapphire crystal for enhanced durability and legibility. The watch is powered by the automatic calibre 6R55, offering a reliable 72-hour power reserve. It comes fitted with a robust stainless steel bracelet equipped with a diver-friendly micro-adjustable clasp. A standout design detail carried over from the SPB511 is the wave-textured dial, which pays tribute to the oceanic roots of the 62MAS.

For this initiative, Seiko has developed four potential design variants, each inspired by the changing colors of the sea from morning to evening. The “Sunrise Orange” model features a vibrant orange dial paired with dark hands and a deep orange bezel, evoking the warmth of the early morning sun. The “Daytime Blue” version presents a light blue dial with silver-tone hands and a contrasting dark blue bezel, offering a crisp and serene aesthetic. Meanwhile, the “Late Afternoon Green” edition brings a sea-green dial with gold-colored hands and a matching deep green bezel, reflecting the richer tones of the ocean as daylight fades. Finally, the “Sunset Red” design showcases a striking red dial combined with gold-colored hands and a red bezel, capturing the fiery hues of the setting sun.

These designs retain the same case construction, movement, and bracelet as the base model, with the visual differences centered on dial colour, bezel tone, and hand finish. The wave dial pattern remains consistent across all versions, enhancing light play and depth.

Voting is open to the public starting July 1, 2025 at 12:00 AM (Japan time) and will close on July 31, 2025 at 11:59 PM (Japan time). The chosen configuration will be announced at a later date, with the final watch set to launch in 2026.
