Hanhart Fly Navy Aerosphere Special Edition: A Tribute To German Naval Aviation
Hanhart is another German watchmaking company that has existed for over a century. It also specialized in producing pilot’s watches and supplied the German Air Force during the Second World War.
It is in this sense that the brand brings us today a special edition of the Fly Navy Aerosphere that pays homage to the Marinefliegergeschwader (MFG), Germany’s Naval Aviation Command, a contemporary dive watch that comes with a blue dial with yellow details including the logo of that military force.
The watch was prepared to deal with the abrupt changes in temperature and altitude that pilots face when flying over the sea, it wears a stainless steel case measuring 42mm in diameter, 12.95mm thick and 49mm long that features a mainly brushed finish. Unidirectional bezel, sapphire crystal, screw-down crown at 3 o’clock with the yellow coat of arms of the Marinefliegergeschwader which we will also find on the dial flanked by guards, solid screwed case back embossed with Coat of Arms of MFG3 and MFG5 the latter concerning to the helicopter division responsible for rescue and missions as well as anti-submarine and anti-surface combat, and lastly but not least, 300m of water tightness.
The matte blue dial is adorned with applied hour markers and a triangle between two points at noon that are buried on the concave minute chapter ring at the edges and three openworked hands all filled with Super-LumiNova, the same one that makes glow the 60-minute scale bezel at the dark. A date window with a black background next to the crown and the yellow coat of arms of that military force mentioned above at 6 o’clock matching the Trident-shaped second’s hand counterweight.
The new Hanhart is powered by the Sellita SW200 automatic movement that presents hacking seconds, running 28,800 Vph and offering up to 38 hours of power reserve.
The watch offers two strap options, one in blue textile with a steel pin buckle and the other on a 3-link steel bracelet with a folding clasp and diving extension, the first option coming with a price tag of €1,500. and the second with €1,690, limited to 150 pieces of each.
