Hanhart Debuts Aquasphere Freefall Blue
Hanhart, the renowned German watchmaker famous for its long tradition of crafting pilot’s chronographs, has just launched its first-ever dive watch, the Aquasphere. This release follows the limited-edition Fly Navy Aerospace dive watch introduced in mid-July, which boasted an impressive 300 meters of water resistance. However, the Aquasphere stands out as Hanhart’s first regular production dive watch, combining the brand’s signature precision with robust features for underwater adventures.
A significant highlight of the Aquasphere FreeFall Blue is that it has been tested by professional German freediving champion Fabio Tunno, affirming its performance under extreme underwater conditions. Tunno’s expertise and testing provide further assurance of the Aquasphere’s reliability and durability, especially for freediving enthusiasts and professionals.
The Hanhart Aquasphere is housed in a stainless steel case, measuring 42mm in diameter, 12.95mm thick, and 49mm in length, giving it a bold presence on the wrist. The case has a predominantly brushed finish, enhancing its rugged yet refined appearance. The unidirectional bezel features a matte blue ceramic insert, with a diving scale where the first 15 minutes are highlighted for quick reference, and an inverted red-outlined triangle, all filled with Super-LumiNova C1 for optimal legibility in low-light conditions.
Protecting the dial is a domed sapphire crystal, while a screw-down crown at 3 o’clock, flanked by guards bearing Hanhart’s signature, ensures durability. Additionally, a recessed helium escape valve at 10 o’clock contributes to the watch’s impressive 300-meter water resistance. The solid screw-down case back is engraved with underwater motifs, reinforcing the dive-ready design.
The dial of the Aquasphere is painted in matte blue, with an inclined silver flange surrounding the minute and second track. The applied indexes and Arabic numerals are filled with the same luminescent material as the bezel for excellent readability. The center seconds hand is tipped in red, adding a touch of contrast to the dial, while the Hanhart logo at 12 o’clock is complemented by the “Aquasphere” label and “30 ATM” printed at 6 o’clock.
Inside, the Aquasphere is powered by the reliable Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement, which operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 38-hour power reserve. This 26-jewel movement is known for its precision and durability, making it a perfect choice for a watch built for both land and sea.
The Hanhart Aquasphere comes with two strap options: a blue textile hook strap for a sporty look or a steel bracelet with a folding clasp and dive extension for those who prefer a more classic metal bracelet style. The Aquasphere is priced at €1,390 with the textile strap and €1,590 with the steel bracelet, offering a solid dive watch at a competitive price point in its segment.
