Hands-On With The New Eberhard Contodat In Madrid
Last week, at Eberhard’s invitation, we travelled to Madrid to experience the brand’s new and collections in person.
We were warmly welcomed by Mario Peserico at the elegant Perodri jewelry boutique on Calle Serrano. The atmosphere was relaxed yet vibrant—perfect for discovering a collection that seeks to reconnect with Eberhard’s spirited past while looking decisively to the future.
The 1970s Spirit, Reimagined
Originally conceived in the 1970s by then-president Palmiro Monti as a bold answer to the quartz crisis, the Contodat has returned with a contemporary edge.

The new Contodat line embraces the integrated-bracelet sports watch aesthetic, housed in a balanced 39 mm stainless steel case. Surfaces are satin-brushed, while the bezel, bevels, crown, pushers, and bracelet center links are polished for contrast. The solid screwed caseback bears the Latin inscription “UBI TU IBI EGO” (“Wherever you are, I will be there”), and ensures 100 m water resistance.
Two Distinct Personalities
Contodat Automatic — Time, date, and a small seconds at 9 o’clock. The trapezoidal date window sits at 3 o’clock. Available with sunray dials in silver, black, blue, or green. Powered by the Sellita SW290-1 automatic movement, beating at 28,800 vph with a 41-hour power reserve.
Contodat Chronographe — Central chronograph seconds hand and 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, with a trapezoidal date window at 6 o’clock. Offered in silver, navy blue, or green. Equipped with the Sellita SW510 B Ha automatic movement, also at 28,800 vph but offering a robust 62-hour reserve.
Both models feature applied hour markers and hands filled with Super-LumiNova, while orange accents energize the tachymeter scale, 30-minute counter, and chronograph seconds (or small seconds on the Automatic). They are paired with an integrated 3-link bracelet with alternating satin and polished finishing and a secure 2Click folding clasp.

The Eberhard Contodat Automatic is priced at €2,940, while the Eberhard Contodat Chronographe is available for €3,970.

A Memorable Day
The day concluded with a relaxed lunch alongside Mario Peserico and the team from Joyeria Perodri at a charming restaurant in central Madrid. It was the perfect end to an experience that celebrated both Eberhard’s heritage and its forward-thinking design spirit.

The new Contodat collection embodies this balance beautifully—reviving a daring design from the 1970s while ensuring it’s perfectly tuned for today’s wrists.
