Hands-On With The New Chronora Chronograph: Dubai’s New Watch Brand
Chronora is a new name in the world of horology, but it’s already turning heads with its inaugural release — a classically styled chronograph that blends vintage charm with modern build quality. Based in Dubai, Chronora takes its name from the Greek word Chronos, meaning “time,” and delivers a debut model that speaks volumes about its ambition and aesthetic direction.

A Promising Start with Classic Roots
Chronora’s first release is a carefully considered chronograph with modest dimensions and a timeless design. Housed in a 38.50 mm stainless steel case, the watch wears comfortably on smaller wrists, making it an appealing option for both vintage lovers and modern minimalists. At 12.70 mm thick (including the crystal) and 46 mm lug-to-lug, the watch finds a perfect balance between presence and wearability.

The case features brushed surfaces with polished accents on the bevels, fluted crown, and mushroom-style pushers. A smooth fixed bezel surrounds the sapphire crystal, and the right side of the case plays host to chronograph controls — start/stop at 2 o’clock and reset at 4 o’clock. The left side features a steel plate engraved with the brand’s name, adding an extra design signature. Around the back, a solid screwed caseback with Chronora’s logo secures the watch and helps achieve 50 meters of water resistance.
Dial Variants and Layout
The version we tested came with a gradient grey dial, but two other versions are available — a gradient blue-grey and a matte brown dial. All three share a refined bi-compax layout with textured backgrounds and recessed sub-dials: a 24-hour indicator at 3 o’clock and a 60-minute counter at 9 o’clock. A black tachymeter scale encircles the dial for added functionality and sportiness.

Polished triangular hour markers, faceted lancet-style hands, and a leaf-shaped chronograph seconds hand complete the visual package. There’s no lume, a choice that stays true to the watch’s vintage inspiration. At 12 o’clock, the Chronora logo stands proud, balanced by a “Chronograph” inscription at 6 o’clock.
Powered by Seiko Mecha-Quartz
Inside, the watch is powered by the Seiko VK64 Mecha-Quartz movement, a reliable caliber that combines quartz precision with a mechanical chronograph module — including that satisfying snap-back reset for the chronograph hand. It’s a savvy choice for a debut model, keeping costs down while still delivering a tactile experience.

Strap and Pricing
Each Chronora chronograph is paired with a matching leather strap, featuring a stainless steel pin buckle engraved with the brand name. While the leather strap suits the classic aesthetic, we can’t help but imagine how striking the watch would look on a vintage-style beads-of-rice or mesh bracelet.
Retail pricing is set at € 599 (plus taxes), positioning the Chronora as an accessible entry into vintage-style chronographs — though it enters a competitive segment.

Brand Vision: Mechanical Future and Expanded Lineup
In a conversation with founder Awadh Almur, we learned that this chronograph is only the beginning. Chronora aims to develop fully mechanical movements in the near future and expand into diver watches, field watches, and dress watches — all under the brand’s ethos of “time well spent.”
Final Thoughts: A Strong Debut with Character
We genuinely enjoyed our time with the new Chronora. Its vintage flair, thoughtful dimensions, and surprising level of finishing make it a compelling option in the under – € 600 segment. Small touches like the engraved side plate and the choice of dial textures elevate it beyond the average microbrand debut.

Of course, there’s room for refinement — especially around the inner lug edges and the case side detailing — but these are minor issues for an otherwise impressive first release.
Chronora has managed to make a splash with its first offering. If its founder’s vision comes to life — especially the move to mechanical movements — this young brand could become one to watch closely.
