Hamilton Adds New 38mm Variants To Khaki Field Mechanical Collection
The reliable and affordable Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical watch inspired by watches produced for WWII soldiers is now available in three new iterations.
It is perhaps one of the favourites among the watchmaking community and we understand why, in addition to what has already been said, it is a very versatile watch and can be used in almost any environment without letting it down, today many brands offer this category, but Hamilton can be proud to be one of the pioneers and therefore offers a wide range of variants, in different materials, colours and mechanisms.
The new additions come in a smaller size of 38mm. They are therefore more faithful to the original, maintaining the entire previous layout, housing a sandblasted case with dimensions of 38mm x 9.50mm x 44mm, sapphire crystal, fluted crown at three o’clock with the brand logo, solid case back and 50m of water resistance which together with long lugs are perhaps the most debatable points on the watch.
On the dial, we find two scales with Arabic numerals, a larger one from 1 to 12 o’clock and a smaller inner one from 13 to 24 o’clock, triangle-shaped hour markers that, together with the syringe hands, are filled with Super-LumiNova (SLN).
We again find the H50 hand-wound movement based on the ETA C07 that operates 21,600 Vph and offers an appreciable 80h of power reserve. This is the manual version of the well-known Powermatic 80, belonging to the Swatch group of which Hamilton is part.
And diving into the novelties, we have two models that arrive in a stainless steel case, the first comes with a white dial that already existed but with beige SLN and that is now also available with green SLN that gives it a more contemporary look attached to a black Nato nylon strap. The second one in steel arrives with a new shade of blue on the dial with beige SLN and a matching NATO strap. Both at the same price of €625.
Finally, we find a new bronze variant that now presents a white dial joining the black one launched in 2021, with beige SLN and attached to a brown calfskin NATO-type strap with a price of €925.
All the new additions seem to work well in the collection but perhaps the one that caught our attention the most is the new one in bronze.
