Grand Seiko Presents a New Hand-Wound 44GS-Style Watch
Grand Seiko has just added a new heritage collection watch inspired by the mythical 44GS design that is distinguished by its slim profile provided and its internal manual movement.
The new Grand Seiko SBGY011G features a textured white dial evoking the Asaborake period when at dawn light penetrates the morning mist revealing the mountainous landscape of Shinshu, where all Grand Seiko Spring Drive watches are made.
The rich textured dial as is traditional is characterized by its simplicity and eligibility, featuring rhodium-plated applied hour indexes, sword hands and applied logo, a petrol blue seconds hand in the centre and a black print inscriptions “Grand Seiko” at 12 o’clock and “Spring Drive” at 6 o’clock.
On the outside, the stainless steel case is 40mm in diameter by 10.5mm in thickness with a finish that alternates between polished and brushed, smooth bezel, fluted crown, and box-shaped sapphire crystal of reduced thickness that together with the minute and second hands slightly curved by hand towards the surface of the dial, translates into a reduced profile comfortable to wear.
Inside it is powered by the Caliber 9R31 with a dual spring barrel mechanism, which offers up to 72 hours of power reserve and an incredible accuracy of +/- 15 seconds per month, all this can be observed through the open sapphire case back.
The watch is offered with a black crocodile leather strap which will be available from December 2022.
