Grand Seiko Introduces Rikka SBGH351 And Shubun SBGH353 In Ever-Brilliant Steel
Grand Seiko has unveiled an exciting update to its Heritage 62GS collection, introducing the new Rikka SBGH351 and Shubun SBGH353 models. These timepieces replace the now-discontinued SBGH271 and SBGH273, bringing refined aesthetics and enhanced materials to an iconic design inspired by the historic 1967 models.

The new Rikka and Shubun watches feature the legendary 62GS case, now crafted in Ever-Brilliant steel, known for its superior corrosion resistance. This premium material enhances the durability and elegance of the 40mm-wide, 12.90mm-thick, and 47mm-long case. Signature Grand Seiko craftsmanship is evident through Zaratsu polishing, offering mirror-like finishes that catch the light beautifully. A box-shaped sapphire crystal, smooth bezel, screw-down crown at the 3 o’clock position with the brand’s signature and screwed open case back complete the sophisticated design. The watches also maintain a 100-meter water resistance, making them both elegant and versatile.

A key highlight of this update is the reimagined textured dials. The Rikka SBGH351, symbolizing summer, now appears in a lighter green tone, while the Shubun SBGH353, representing autumn, showcases a softer blue hue. Both models retain the signature dial layout with applied indexes and sleek Dauphine hands. The Rikka version now adopts silver accents, harmonizing with the Shubun tones. The date window next to the crown features a white background, while the embossed Grand Seiko logo at 12 o’clock adds a timeless touch. The central seconds hand remains in golden tones, providing a refined contrast.

Inside, these timepieces are powered by the reliable Hi-Beat Caliber 9S85 movement. First introduced in 2009, this 37-jewel automatic movement delivers an impressive accuracy of -3/+5 seconds per day. Operating at 36,000 vibrations per hour, it offers a power reserve of up to 53 hours, ensuring precise timekeeping even during extended periods off the wrist.

The updated models are paired with matching Ever-Brilliant steel bracelets featuring folding clasps for a secure and comfortable fit. Grand Seiko enthusiasts can look forward to these stunning additions becoming available worldwide starting next February in the brand’s official boutiques and selected retailers, priced at €8,000. The combination of timeless design, exceptional craftsmanship, and innovative materials makes the Rikka SBGH351 and Shubun SBGH353 worthy successors in the Heritage 62GS collection.
