Celebrating both the brand’s 50th anniversary and the arrival of the Chinese New Year, Raymond Weil unveils a striking new variant of its elliptical dress watch: the Toccata Heritage “Year of the Horse.” This latest edition introduces a bold and symbolic aesthetic, combining a gold-plated case with a vivid red dial — a colour deeply rooted in Chinese culture and tradition.

Red is associated with prosperity, vitality, and good fortune, making it a fitting choice for a commemorative model. It also aligns with the spirit of the Year of the Horse, which represents strength, energy, perseverance, and forward momentum — values that resonate with both the cultural celebration and the independent Swiss brand’s five-decade journey.

A Familiar Silhouette, Now in Gold

The new “Year of the Horse” edition retains the distinctive elliptical-shaped case introduced with the Toccata Heritage collection. Measuring 33 mm in width, 38 mm in length, and just 6.95 mm thick, the watch maintains its refined, ultra-slim profile — perfectly suited to formal and dress occasions.

The polished case is now presented in a stainless steel with rose gold PVD coating, lending warmth and elegance to the design. Slim, polished lugs extend naturally from the oval mid-case, enhancing wrist presence while preserving the vintage-inspired proportions. A fluted crown and a sapphire crystal that follows the curvature of the case complete the exterior architecture. Water resistance remains rated at 30 metres, consistent with its dress-watch positioning.

A Symbolic Red Dial

The most defining element of this new variant is its deep red dial, a vibrant tone chosen not only to mark the Chinese New Year but also to symbolize celebration and good fortune. The sunray-brushed finish radiates from the centre, adding depth and dynamic light play to the otherwise minimalist two-hand layout.

Applied gilt hour markers echo the tone of the rose gold case, creating a harmonious monochromatic look. Slender Dauphine-style hands, also gilt-finished, sweep across the dial with elegance, while a printed minute track runs discreetly around the periphery. Apart from the Raymond Weil logo beneath 12 o’clock, the dial remains clean and balanced, reinforcing the purity of its classic design.

Hand-Wound Mechanical Heart

Powering the watch is the Calibre RW4100, a Swiss-made hand-wound movement based on the reliable Sellita SW210-1. Measuring 25.60 mm in diameter and just 3.35 mm in thickness, this movement enables the watch’s remarkably slim case profile.

Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), it delivers a power reserve of approximately 45 hours. The movement can be admired through the oval sapphire crystal caseback, which mirrors the shape of the front crystal. Finishing includes brushed bridges, blued screws, and engraved details filled with blue lacquer — subtle but refined touches that complement the watch’s heritage character.

The manual-winding calibre reinforces the classical inspiration behind the Toccata Heritage, offering a tactile and intimate connection between wearer and mechanism.

Classic Strap Pairing

The new edition is fitted with a black leather strap, providing contrast to the vibrant red dial and rose gold case. It is secured with a matching rose gold pin buckle, ensuring visual coherence throughout. Curved spring bars allow the strap to follow the natural lines of the case, maintaining the integrated and elegant profile that defines the collection.

The Raymond Weil Toccata Heritage “Year of the Horse” joins the permanent Toccata Heritage lineup as a special celebratory variant. Pricing is set at CHF 1,695, aligning it with the upper range of the mechanical models within the collection.
