Glashütte Original’s Seventies Chronograph Goes Bold With Purple And Green Dials
Glashütte Original expands its bold Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date collection with two new limited editions for 2025, distinguished by daring dial colors and advanced watchmaking mechanics. The Plasma, with its deep purple tone, and the Fusion, in a vivid lime green, each come in a 100-piece edition that highlights the brand’s talent for blending design flair with technical sophistication.

A Case Inspired by the 1970s
The Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date retains its hallmark square case with softened edges, a clear nod to the retro TV-screen designs of the 1970s. Measuring 40 mm by 40 mm with a height of 14.10 mm, the stainless steel case balances presence with wearability. A screw-down crown, protected by flanking guards and rectangular pushers, ensures a water resistance of 100 metres, offering both robustness and peace of mind.

Bold New Dials
What truly distinguishes these new editions are their dials. Finished in lacquer with a matte, finely grained texture, the Plasma version presents a rich shade of purple reminiscent of aubergine, while the Fusion edition explores a strikingly bright green with yellow undertones. Both colors are paired with black elements and white inscriptions to maximize legibility.

The dial layout remains faithful to the Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date identity. At six o’clock sits Glashütte Original’s Panorama Date, instantly recognizable for its perfectly aligned double discs placed on the same plane. The chronograph functions are balanced across the display, with a 30-minute counter at three o’clock decorated with snailed grooves, and a small seconds counter at nine o’clock that cleverly incorporates the power reserve indicator. To avoid overcrowding the dial, the 12-hour chronograph counter appears in a curved aperture beneath the brand’s logo at twelve o’clock. Slim baton indices and baton-style hands, both treated with Super-LumiNova, ensure clarity in all light conditions, while the central chronograph seconds hand is distinguished by the brand’s double-G counterweight.
The Flyback Chronograph Movement
Powering the Plasma and Fusion editions is the in-house calibre 37-02, an automatic integrated flyback chronograph movement. It offers a generous 70-hour power reserve and is finished in traditional Glashütte style, with stripes across the plates and bridges, polished bevels, and a skeletonised rotor that proudly carries the double-G emblem. Thanks to its integrated design, the crown and pushers sit on the same level, giving the watch a more harmonious silhouette on the wrist.
Straps & Availability
Both editions are offered with a choice between a stainless steel bracelet equipped with a fine adjustment system or a black rubber strap secured by a foldover clasp. On the steel bracelet, the retail price is set at € 17,400, while the version with the rubber strap is priced at € 16,200. They are now available through Glashütte Original boutiques and select retailers worldwide, with each dial color limited to 100 pieces.

A Blend of Heritage and Modernity
The Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date continues to stand out as a watch that merges vintage-inspired design with cutting-edge horology. With the Plasma and Fusion editions, the collection now gains two vibrant dials that not only push the aesthetic boundaries of the series but also reinforce the technical excellence that has become a hallmark of the Saxon manufacture.
