Girard-Perregaux Expands Laureato Collection With New Two-Tone Chronograph
Swiss manufacture Girard-Perregaux introduces a new limited edition of its iconic Laureato collection with the launch of the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Chronograph 42 mm, combining stainless steel, rose gold, and a rich chocolate brown dial in a production run of just 50 pieces.
Originally introduced in 1975, the Laureato became Girard-Perregaux’s answer to the growing luxury sports watch segment, combining an integrated bracelet design with a distinctive octagonal bezel. Nearly five decades later, the collection remains one of the brand’s most recognizable lines, and this latest chronograph edition reinforces its sporty yet refined identity with a combination of stainless steel, rose gold, and a rich chocolate brown dial.
The watch features a 42 mm tonneau-shaped case crafted from 904L stainless steel, a more corrosion-resistant alloy compared to the commonly used 316L steel. The case measures 12.16 mm thick and offers 100 meters of water resistance, maintaining the sporty credentials expected from the Laureato collection.
Alternating brushed and polished surfaces emphasize the architectural design of the case, while the polished rose gold chronograph pushers and screw-down crown create a strong visual contrast. Sitting atop a circular base, the signature octagonal bezel is executed in rose gold with a circular brushed finish, further highlighting the model’s geometric character.
One of the most eye-catching elements of this limited edition is undoubtedly its chocolate brown dial. Decorated with a prominent Clous de Paris hobnail motif, the textured surface gives the watch a dynamic appearance that changes depending on the light. The three chronograph sub-dials feature concentric circular finishing, adding depth and contrast to the display.
Rose gold-plated baton-style hour markers are above the dial and paired with matching hour and minute hands filled with luminescent material for improved legibility in low-light conditions. The central chronograph seconds hand and sub-dial hands are also gold-plated, while the date window positioned at 4:30 blends discreetly into the dial thanks to its matching brown background.
Powering the Laureato Chronograph 42mm is the in-house GP03300 automatic calibre, a modular chronograph movement derived from the well-known GP3000 family. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement delivers a power reserve of approximately 46 hours.
Visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, the movement showcases traditional haute horlogerie finishing techniques including Côtes de Genève, circular graining, snailing, and polished bevels. Despite the chronograph complication, the calibre maintains relatively compact proportions, helping preserve the balanced profile of the watch.
Completing the sporty aesthetic is a brown rubber strap featuring a central hobnail texture that echoes the dial pattern. The strap is secured with a stainless steel triple-folding clasp for added comfort and security on the wrist.
Limited to only 50 pieces, the new Girard-Perregaux Laureato Chronograph 42 mm is priced at CHF 24,300.
