Gérald Charles Unveils The Maestro 2.0 Ultra-Thin Tiger’s Eye For Seddiqi
To mark its 75th anniversary, Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons has collaborated with Gérald Charles on a highly limited special edition: the Maestro 2.0 Ultra-Thin Tiger’s Eye. Unveiled as part of the celebrations at Dubai Watch Week 2025, this striking creation is produced in just 20 pieces and combines Gérald Genta’s legendary design language with the rare beauty of natural stone.
Iconic Case Design
The Maestro case, a hallmark of Gérald Charles, remains one of the most distinctive contributions of Gérald Genta’s late career. Its asymmetrical yet balanced shape — an octagon with a round bottom and a stepped bezel — gives the watch immediate recognition.
For this Seddiqi edition, the stainless steel case features the brand’s proprietary Brown Colormix finish, which enriches the surface with subtle warmth and depth. Measuring 39 mm by 41 mm and just 9 mm thick, the case is impressively slim. A screw-down crown with Clous de Paris detailing ensures both functionality and style, while reinforced gaskets secure water resistance to 100 metres. Flat sapphire crystals on both front and back preserve the slim profile without compromising durability.
Tiger’s Eye Dial
At the centre of the watch is a dial crafted from Tiger’s Eye, a gemstone admired for its luminous golden streaks and characteristic chatoyancy effect. The stone brings a natural dynamism as its bands shift with the light. Gérald Charles preserves the purity of this material by keeping the dial free of indices or tracks, leaving only slender baton hands with Super-LumiNova for legibility.
Ultra-Thin Movement
Powering the watch is the GCA2000 calibre, developed by Vaucher Manufacture. At just 3.70 mm in thickness, this ultra-thin automatic movement offers a 50-hour power reserve and operates with twin barrels for consistent energy delivery. Through the sapphire crystal caseback, the decoration is revealed—Côtes de Genève, perlage, and colimaçon finishes showcasing the fine Swiss craftsmanship.
Strap and Exclusivity
The watch is paired with a sand-coloured vulcanised rubber strap featuring a Clous de Paris texture on the exterior and a GC tapisserie motif on the underside. A Colormix stainless steel pin buckle secures the strap, and an interchangeable system allows for quick adjustments.
