G-SHOCK And Surfrider Foundation Japan Launch Eco-Conscious G5600SFJ-9
G-SHOCK has teamed up with the Surfrider Foundation Japan to introduce the G5600SFJ-9, a limited-edition watch designed with environmental consciousness and rugged utility in mind. Based on the classic square G5600 silhouette, this model brings a sustainable edge through the use of bio-based resins and unique mixed-color molding.
Engineered for toughness, the G5600SFJ-9 incorporates G-SHOCK’s signature shock-resistant structure and offers 200 meters of water resistance, making it suitable for both urban use and water-based activities. The watch is powered by Tough Solar technology, which keeps the digital display running efficiently through exposure to light, and it includes a Super Illuminator LED backlight for enhanced visibility in low-light conditions.
Functionality is comprehensive and reliable: users can access a 48-city world time function, 1/100-second stopwatch, countdown timer, five daily alarms, hourly time signal, and both 12-hour and 24-hour formats. Auto-calendar functionality is pre-programmed through the year 2099.
Aesthetically, the G5600SFJ-9 stands out with a vibrant yellow case and strap meant to evoke the glow of a sunrise over the ocean—an intentional nod to its marine conservation theme. The collaboration branding is clearly present: the Surfrider Foundation Japan’s logo and the “#oceanfriendlylifestyle” hastag appear on the dial, caseback, and band loop. Additionally, each piece has a distinct pattern thanks to the mixed-color resin molding technique, ensuring no two watches are exactly alike.
