Fortis Introduces Two New Stratoliner S-41 Models: Gravity Black And Reentry Edition
Swiss watchmaker Fortis has unveiled two striking additions to its Stratoliner S-41 collection, a series created with space exploration in mind and powered by the brand’s in-house Werk 17 chronograph movement. The new duo — the stealthy Gravity Black and the visually bold Reentry Edition — offer two distinctly different takes on the same space-tested platform.

Space-Proven Engineering
The Stratoliner S-41 is built around a robust 41 mm case made from recycled stainless steel, measuring 50 mm lug-to-lug and 15 mm thick. It houses the automatic Werk 17 chronograph movement, developed by La Joux-Perret exclusively for Fortis. This COSC-level caliber operates at 28,800 vph, delivers a 60-hour power reserve, and uses a column-wheel architecture with a tangential micro-screw regulation system to ensure high precision even under extreme conditions.

As a chronograph, the watch retains the familiar layout with subdials at 6, 9, and 12 o’clock, plus a day/date window at 3 o’clock. The chronograph scale is neatly integrated into the rehaut for enhanced legibility.
Stratoliner S-41 Gravity Black
The Gravity Black stands out as the first Stratoliner to feature a DLC-coated stainless steel mid-case, pushing surface hardness to around 4,500 Vickers — about 20 times harder than untreated steel. This gives the watch both a sleek, stealthy aesthetic and formidable scratch resistance.

Its black stardust-textured dial is accented with light blue details, including luminous Super-LumiNova X1 markers and a light blue central chronograph hand. Black metallic hands filled with white Super-LumiNova X1 ensure excellent readability in low light.
Completing the look is a black hybrid strap made of FKM rubber and high-resistance textile, paired with a matching black DLC pin buckle. The Gravity Black is priced at € 5,150.
Stratoliner S-41 Reentry Edition
Inspired by the fiery return of spacecraft to Earth, the Reentry Edition showcases a dial unlike anything else in the collection. Each dial starts as titanium, compressed under high pressure to form a dense surface, then individually flamed by hand to create unique patterns of glowing copper, violet, deep blue, and subtle scorch marks. No two dials are the same.

The use of titanium not only allows this dramatic heat-reactive finish but also ensures anti-magnetic stability, preserving the movement’s precision. Light blue Super-LumiNova X1 markers, a black-and-blue chronograph scale on a white rehaut, and black metallic hands complete the dial design.
The watch comes on Fortis’s solid stainless steel Block bracelet with a Slide Clasp for on-the-fly micro-adjustment. The caseback is engraved with “One Of A Kind” to reflect the uniqueness of each dial. The Reentry Edition is priced at € 5,500.
A Bold Step Forward for the Stratoliner
With these two new releases, Fortis broadens the character of the Stratoliner S-41 line — offering a choice between the rugged stealth of the Gravity Black and the one-of-a-kind artistry of the Reentry Edition. Both continue the brand’s tradition of building chronographs capable of withstanding the rigors of space, while bringing distinctly different personalities to the wrist.
