Formex Introduces The Field Automatic Gen-2 In Hardened Titanium
Swiss watchmaker Formex returns to the rugged elegance of the field watch with the release of the Field Automatic Gen-2, a refined update to the brand’s original 2022 titanium field model. Designed for durability, legibility, and everyday functionality, the second generation brings subtle yet significant improvements in both form and finish.
Refined Titanium Case Construction
The Gen-2 Field Automatic is housed in a hardened Grade 2 titanium case that measures 40 mm in diameter, with a lug-to-lug length of 48 mm and a thickness of 10.50 mm. Known for its lightweight and anti-corrosive properties, titanium is a staple material for tough, outdoor-ready watches. Formex enhances this with a proprietary hardening process, increasing the case’s surface hardness from 145 Vickers to 900 Vickers—making it nearly three times more scratch-resistant than standard Grade 5 titanium. A full sandblasted matte finish and crisp beveled edges give the case a stealthy appearance, fit for active or urban environments alike.
Upgraded Two-Part Dial Design
The updated dial architecture presents a two-part structure with a flat central section in a sunburst finish, encircled by a railway minute track. This new layout introduces a concave visual depth while maintaining a clean, legible look. The dial also retains the sandwich-style construction, showcasing cut-out numerals filled with Grade A Super-LumiNova for optimal visibility in low-light conditions.

The Gen-2 introduces several new dial colors. The Ice Blue and Coho Salmon versions are equipped with blacked-out luminous numerals, providing a striking contrast and a contemporary edge. Meanwhile, the Basalt Grey version uses BGW9 Super-LumiNova, which glows blue in the dark while appearing white in daylight, offering a more traditional luminous effect with modern styling.

Additional details include a color-matched beveled date aperture at 6 o’clock that integrates seamlessly into the dial layout. The signature syringe-style hour and minute hands, along with a lollipop seconds hand, remain unchanged from the previous version, preserving the strong identity of the Field line.
Reliable Swiss Movement
Inside the Field Automatic Gen-2 is the Sellita SW200-1, a Swiss-made automatic movement widely regarded for its reliability. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz), the movement delivers a 41-hour power reserve. As is standard for field watches, the movement is housed beneath a solid screw-down caseback for added durability.
Versatile Strap Options
Formex offers a wide selection of straps to complement different use cases and preferences. For rugged, outdoor use, the watch can be paired with a Velcro-secured nylon strap featuring a durable woven texture. For more formal or casual wear, a leather strap with Formex’s patented carbon deployant clasp is available. This clasp system allows precise, tool-free micro-adjustments directly on the wrist, ensuring a secure and comfortable fit at all times.
Availability and Pricing
The Formex Field Automatic Gen-2 Titanium will be available for pre-order starting May 22, 2025, at 9 AM Swiss time (UTC+2). Shipping is expected to begin in late June 2025. The watch is priced at € 850 with the nylon/Velcro strap, while the version with the leather strap and deployant clasp is priced at € 990.

Formex continues to combine Swiss watchmaking precision with modern design and materials, and the Field Automatic Gen-2 is a clear reflection of that mission—delivering dependable performance in a lightweight, purpose-built form.
