Formal White And Tweed Green: Seiko’s New 5 Sports SKX SNZH

Seiko expands its accessible mechanical sports-watch offering with two new versions of the 5 Sports SKX SNZH, introducing the Formal White and Tweed Green references. While both retain the robust and recognisable character of the SKX-inspired design, their colour combinations bring a more refined aesthetic to the collection.

The new models combine a substantial stainless-steel case with a practical automatic movement and 100 metres of water resistance, while their contrasting dials and bezels give each version a distinctly different personality.

A Familiar Sports-Watch Platform

Measuring 42.50 mm in diameter and 14.20 mm thick, the stainless-steel case gives the 5 Sports SKX SNZH a pronounced presence on the wrist. The design follows the sporty proportions and visual language associated with the Seiko 5 Sports family, while the crown is positioned at 4 o’clock.

That offset crown placement is not only characteristic of the design but also helps keep it away from the back of the hand during everyday activity.

Water resistance is rated at 100 metres, making the watches suitable for general water exposure and recreational use, while the stainless-steel construction provides the durability expected from a sports-oriented model.

Both versions are fitted with a unidirectional rotating bezel featuring a 60-minute scale, reinforcing the functional character of the collection.

The watches are completed with stainless-steel bracelets secured by folding clasps, matching the robust character of the cases while allowing the two models to retain their versatility as everyday watches.

Formal White

The Formal White introduces a crisp white dial combined with a contrasting black bezel insert. Adding a more elegant touch are the yellow-gold-coloured hands and hour markers, which create a warmer visual contrast against the monochrome dial and bezel.

The result is a colour scheme that moves the watch slightly away from the traditional tool-watch aesthetic without compromising its sporty foundations.

The dial retains the characteristic Seiko 5 Sports layout, with applied hour markers and prominent hands designed to provide clear legibility.

Tweed Green

For the Tweed Green, Seiko takes a more monochromatic approach. The model features a sunray-brushed green dial matched with a green bezel insert, while the hands and hour markers receive rose-gold-coloured detailing.

The sunray finish gives the dial additional depth as it reacts to changing light, while the combination of green and rose-gold tones provides a more contemporary and sophisticated appearance.

Despite the more polished colour palette, the underlying watch remains the same robust sports model, making the Tweed Green a versatile option that can move between casual and more formal settings.

Seiko Calibre 4R36

Powering both new references is the well-established Seiko 4R36 automatic movement. The calibre operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and provides approximately 41 hours of power reserve.

The movement features both automatic winding and manual winding, along with hacking seconds, and its relatively straightforward construction contributes to the practicality of the watch.

The 4R36 is visible through the exhibition caseback, giving the wearer a view of the automatic movement.

An Accessible Mechanical Sports Watch

The Seiko 5 Sports SKX SNZH Formal White and Tweed Green combine the familiar characteristics of the range with colourways that give the watches a more refined identity.

At GBP 340, both models remain firmly within the accessible mechanical-watch segment, while offering a stainless-steel case and bracelet, folding clasp, automatic movement, exhibition caseback, rotating bezel and 100-metre water resistance.
