Swatch kicks off 2026 with Riding the Clouds, a bold and energetic timepiece created to celebrate the Year of the Fire Horse. Designed in collaboration with Yu Wenjie, former artist-in-residence at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai, the watch blends contemporary creativity with deep-rooted symbolism from Chinese culture.
At the heart of the design is the Horse—an enduring zodiac symbol of strength, independence, and perseverance—combined with the element of Fire, representing passion, ambition, and unstoppable momentum. Together, they form a visual tribute to entrepreneurial spirit and the drive to push beyond limits.
The dial, envisioned as a blazing sun, features two powerful horses in mid-flight, sculpted with an embossed texture that enhances their sense of motion. Nearly identical in form yet opposite in color—one white, one black—they reflect the timeless balance of yin and yang. Their fiery wings and manes cut through clouds and flames, symbols of determination, good fortune, and prosperity.
This vivid red theme extends seamlessly from the dial to the strap, drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese scroll paintings and red bracelets historically associated with protection and power. The result is a watch that feels both symbolic and strikingly modern.
