Favre Leuba Harpoon Revival Expands With Black And Blue Dials
Favre Leuba continues to revisit its extensive archives following the brand’s relaunch in 2024, bringing back historical designs with modern mechanical specifications. Among the more compact models in the current collection is the Harpoon Revival, a recreation of the 1966 Harpoon that combines vintage proportions with contemporary materials.

Initially introduced with a grey dial, the Harpoon Revival is now available in black and dark blue, giving the 1960s-inspired design two additional interpretations while retaining the same case and movement.
A Compact 1960s Case
One of the defining characteristics of the Harpoon Revival is its size. Rather than simply borrowing the visual language of the original model, Favre Leuba has kept its proportions remarkably close to the 1966 watch.

The stainless steel case measures 36.80 mm in diameter and 10 mm thick, with a compact 43.50 mm lug-to-lug measurement. These dimensions give the watch a distinctly vintage presence on the wrist, particularly compared with the larger cases found elsewhere in Favre Leuba’s contemporary collections.
A domed sapphire crystal sits above the dial, its shape deliberately reproducing the appearance of the hesalite crystals used on many watches of the period. The caseback is solid stainless steel and screwed, while water resistance is rated at 50 metres.
Two New Dial Colours
The new versions introduce black and dark blue sunray-brushed dials. Both feature a contrasting white inner minute track that reinforces the watch’s restrained, dressier character.
The layout remains deliberately simple. Applied horizontal baton markers appear at 12, 6 and 9 o’clock, while the remaining hours are represented by the clean minute track. At 3 o’clock, a framed date aperture provides the only major interruption to the dial symmetry.

The hands are treated with luminous material for improved legibility, while the Favre Leuba logo and Harpoon name retain the distinctive typography associated with the 1966 original.
The black version is matched with a black leather strap, while the blue dial comes with a brown leather strap. Both use a stainless steel pin buckle signed by Favre Leuba and feature a quick-change system for easier strap replacement.
La Joux-Perret G100 Inside
Behind the vintage-inspired exterior is a modern automatic movement. Favre Leuba identifies it as the FLD034, which is based on the La Joux-Perret G100.

The movement operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour, or 4Hz, and provides approximately 68 hours of power reserve. This gives the Harpoon Revival a contemporary mechanical foundation while keeping the overall package relatively straightforward.
A Faithful Revival
The Harpoon Revival occupies a different space within Favre Leuba’s current catalogue, trading the substantial presence of models such as the Deep Raider for a much more restrained 36.80 mm case.

With its compact dimensions, domed sapphire crystal, minimalist dial and period-correct typography, the model stays close to the character of its 1966 predecessor while incorporating a modern movement and materials.
The new black and blue editions are part of the permanent collection and are priced at CHF 1,800.
