Farer Field Collection 2.0: Improved Design Meets Rugged Functionality
Farer’s second generation of the Field collection introduces significant design improvements, starting with the stainless steel case. Measuring 38 mm in diameter and 11.70 mm in thickness, the new case is more refined, maintaining the previous 45 mm length for balanced proportions. The predominantly brushed finish stays true to its field watch heritage, but the case now features a narrower bezel with a polished ring that increases dial space. A key upgrade is the larger crown, which enhances grip and control. The crown retains the brand’s signature bronze cap set with the Farer logo, adding a unique touch of distinction.
The new dials come in three distinct colour options: dark blue, olive green, and sand, each offering a different combination of hour markers. The dark blue variant displays Arabic numerals at 3, 6, and 9, with baton markers filling the other positions and an inverted triangle at noon. The green version features full Arabic numerals across the dial, while the sand dial opts for a mix of Arabic numerals and dashes at 3, 6, and 9. The familiar inverted triangle remains at the top of the dial on all models.
Across all variations, the dial layout maintains some consistent elements. The hour and minute hands are filled with luminescent material, as are the hour markers, ensuring easy readability in low-light conditions. The central lollipop-style second hand adds character to the watch, while the date pointer, topped with a brand-shaped logo tip, works alongside a rehaut marked with 31 days. To enhance legibility, the final five days of the month are highlighted in a bolder colour, offering a functional and visually appealing date feature.
The internal mechanics are driven by the 26-jewel Sellita SW221 automatic movement, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, and delivering a power reserve of up to 41 hours. This movement ensures both precision and durability, key characteristics of a dependable field watch. Additionally, the case offers 150 meters of water resistance, making it well-suited for outdoor activities and more rugged conditions.
Farer pairs each watch with a 20mm 3-link stainless steel bracelet, complete with a folding clasp and toolless micro-adjustments for added comfort. A supplementary fabric strap is also included for those seeking a more casual look. Priced at € 1,295, the second-generation Field collection delivers improved design, reliable performance, and versatility, catering to both field watch enthusiasts and those looking for an everyday timepiece.
