Exclusive To Thailand, Desired Everywhere: The Serica Ref. 6190 TDM
With the Ref. 6190 TDM, Serica introduces a watch that feels familiar at first glance, yet reveals a distinct personality the closer you look. Created exclusively for the Thai Domestic Market and limited to just 100 pieces, this edition builds on the brand’s established field chronometer concept while integrating a cultural detail rarely seen in contemporary watchmaking.

A Compact Yet Capable Field Watch
At its core, the Ref. 6190 TDM retains the balanced proportions that have defined the collection. The stainless steel case measures 37.70 mm in diameter and only 10.40 mm in thickness, an impressive achievement considering the presence of a thick sapphire crystal and a water-resistance rating of 200 meters. The case architecture plays a significant role in the watch’s appeal. A flat bezel frames the dial, while the twisted lugs introduce a subtle dynamism to the silhouette. Alternating brushed and polished surfaces add refinement without compromising the tool-watch spirit. On the right side, a generously sized 8mm crown ensures easy handling, reinforcing the model’s practical character.

A Thai-Inspired Take on the California Dial
Where this edition truly sets itself apart is on the dial. The Ref. 6190 TDM revisits the classic California dial configuration, traditionally defined by Roman numerals on the upper half and Arabic numerals on the lower half. Here, however, Serica replaces the expected Arabic numerals with Thai numerals, creating a striking and culturally specific interpretation of the format. The upper half of the dial preserves its Roman markers, while the lower section introduces the flowing curves of Thai script. The layout remains structured and highly legible, anchored by a triangle at 12 o’clock, baton markers at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, and a precise railroad minute track running along the periphery.

The glossy black dial surface, enhances contrast and gives the watch visual depth. All markers are crafted in generously domed Super-LumiNova, as are the broad arrow-style hands, ensuring excellent visibility in low-light conditions. The luminous elements appear almost sculptural against the polished black background, reinforcing the watch’s instrument-like clarity.
Chronometer-Certified Mechanics
Beneath the screwed caseback lies the automatic SoProd M100 caliber. Beating at 4Hz and offering a power reserve of approximately 42 hours, the movement represents a reliable and modern alternative to more commonly used Swiss calibers in this segment. Importantly, the watch carries official COSC chronometer certification, confirming its precision and aligning with the “field chronometer” designation that defines the Ref. 6190 line.
Bracelet and Availability
The watch is fitted with a 20mm stainless steel Bonklip bracelet, a design rooted in mid-20th-century military watches. Lightweight yet secure, it complements the case proportions and reinforces the model’s utilitarian heritage while maintaining everyday comfort.

Limited to 100 pieces and reserved exclusively for the Thai Domestic Market, the Serica Ref. 6190 TDM Field Chronometer is priced at € 1,190.
Our take
On a more personal note, Serica has been steadily accustoming us to interesting and genuinely appealing watches at prices that, in today’s market, can largely be described as fair. Moving confidently between elegant everyday pieces and robust diving models, the brand’s catalogue makes it easy to find at least one watch that resonates with different tastes. This limited edition is yet another example. It combines originality, solid specifications and chronometer-certified performance at a very attractive price point. It is unlikely to remain long in store displays or quietly sit on shelves in Thailand. And for many enthusiasts outside that market—including us—it will probably bring a slight sense of frustration for not having the opportunity to secure one.
