Everything You Need To Know About The New NOMOS Tetra Origins Collection
NOMOS Glashütte expands its Tetra line with the new Tetra Origins collection, a quartet of watches that draws inspiration from nature’s earthy palette. Known for its minimalist Bauhaus design and distinctive square case, the Tetra remains one of the brand’s most recognizable creations, and this latest series reinforces its timeless character through fresh, organic tones and refined details.

A Signature Square Case
The new Tetra Origins models maintain the familiar 29.50 mm by 29.50 mm stainless steel case, characterized by crisp angles and clean proportions. With a slim height of just 6.50 mm, the watch sits elegantly on the wrist, perfectly reflecting NOMOS’ philosophy of understated sophistication. The stepped lugs add a touch of Art Deco flair, while the flat crown ensures easy manual winding and time adjustment. Protecting the dial is a square sapphire crystal, continuing the geometric harmony that defines the Tetra series.

Four Earth-Inspired Dials
The Tetra Origins collection features four new dials—Ochra, Terra, Salvia, and Basalt—each representing a unique natural shade: yellow, reddish brown, green, and charcoal grey. These tones give the Tetra a contemporary and organic appeal while maintaining the minimalist layout NOMOS is known for.

Each dial features a fine grained texture, recessed small-seconds subdial, and elongated Arabic numerals paired with slender baton markers. The polished, needle-shaped hands add a refined touch, and the contrasting small-seconds hands bring a pop of color that enlivens the design without overpowering it.
In-House Mechanics — The DUW 4001 Movement
Powering the Tetra Origins is NOMOS’ DUW 4001 hand-wound movement, visible through a sapphire crystal caseback. Based on the architecture of the classic Peseux 7001, the DUW 4001 is a fully in-house calibre that now includes the NOMOS Swing System escapement, a key development that marks NOMOS’ independence in movement production.

The calibre operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour and provides a power reserve of approximately 43 hours. As expected from the Glashütte manufacture, the finishing is meticulous—blued screws, Glashütte ribbing, perlage, and gold-engraved details all testify to the brand’s dedication to traditional craftsmanship.
Finishing Touches
Each model in the Tetra Origins collection is paired with a beige vegan leather strap and a stainless steel pin buckle, completing the refined aesthetic. The combination of soft natural tones, slim proportions, and mechanical purity makes the Tetra Origins an elegant everyday companion for those who appreciate both design and horological integrity.

Final Thoughts
The NOMOS Tetra is perhaps one of the most interesting square watches on the market, as it retains the right measurements, a contemporary look with a vintage flair, and the minimalist design of a classic watch—all at a reasonable price. Of all the variations so far, these are probably my favorites, and they arrive just in time for fall.
