Eska’s Latest Dive Watch: The Striking Amphibian 250 Red
The relaunch of Eska, a historic Swiss watch brand founded in 1918 and now revived by Sinicha Knezevic and Christophe Chevreton, has been making waves in the watchmaking world this year. Known for its exceptional diving watches, such as the iconic Amphibian 600, Eska fell victim to the quartz crisis that claimed many traditional watchmakers. However, its rebirth brings new hope, with the Amphibian 250 series leading the charge.

Eska’s Amphibian 250 debuted in a retro-inspired black version that quickly sold out. It was followed by the striking “White Shark” edition, and now the brand has introduced a bold limited-edition red variant. The new Amphibian 250 retains the same distinctive design and technical features as its predecessors, embodying a perfect blend of vintage charm and modern innovation.

Housed in a robust 40mm stainless steel case with a brushed finish, the Amphibian 250 exudes durability and style. The case measures 13.50mm in height and 46mm in length, ensuring a comfortable fit on most wrists. Its oversized unidirectional bezel features a 60-minute countdown scale, protected by a sapphire insert, while a screw-down crown at 3 o’clock and a screwed solid case back enhance its water resistance to an impressive 250 meters.

The standout feature of this edition is its gradient red dial, which darkens toward the edges for a dynamic and eye-catching effect. Crafted with sandwich construction, the dial’s lower layer is filled with Old Radium lume, which glows through the cut-out indexes for exceptional legibility. Printed Arabic numerals at the cardinal points, a detailed minute track, and a lollipop seconds hand with a red tip further enhance the dial’s functionality and aesthetic appeal.

A significant upgrade in this model is its Swiss-made Sellita SW200 automatic movement, replacing the Seiko NH38 used in previous versions. The Sellita SW200 operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a reliable power reserve of up to 38 hours, ensuring precise timekeeping and mechanical excellence.
The Amphibian 250 comes as a comprehensive set, offering three strap options to suit different styles and occasions. These include a steel ladder bracelet, a vibrant red Tropic rubber strap, and a versatile black two-piece NATO strap. Limited to just 136 pieces, this exclusive release honours the watch’s water resistance rating of 250 meters (equivalent to 136 fathoms).

Priced at €1,090, the new Eska Amphibian 250 Red edition offers an exceptional combination of Swiss craftsmanship, vintage aesthetics, and modern reliability. For collectors and diving enthusiasts, this limited-edition timepiece is a tribute to Eska’s enduring legacy and a testament to its exciting new chapter.
