Eberhard & Co. Adds Three New Chronos To The Extra-Fort Collection
Eberhard & Co. presents three new iterations of its best-known chronometer, the Extra-fort Vitré, which now comes with a silvery white and greyish blue dial.
In 1940, the Swiss watchmaker debuted the Extra-fort chronograph, which came in a case with narrow straight lugs with a bi-compax layout and Breguet hands on the dial, in 1950 the watch would undergo improvements, starting to feature a case with wider angular lugs and Dauphine hands on the dial, with a design very similar to current lines.
The new variants now arriving in the collection feature a moderate stainless steel case measuring 39mm in diameter and 14.12mm thick, which comes with a smooth bezel and polished finish, sapphire crystal on both sides, fluted crown at 3 o’clock with the brand logo and flanked by two rectangular pushers and 50m water resistance.
On the dial, we can find different textures, a frappé pattern with vertical lines on the central disc and which also extends to the tachymeter rehaunt, and a chapter ring with an azure background on which Roman numerals sit and combine with the bi-compax registers, with a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and a running seconds at 9 o’clock. Dauphine hands, framed date window at 6 o’clock and a chronograph center seconds hand with leaf-shaped counterweight.
As for the different variants, we have the Argenté Argenté which comes with a silvery white dial and counters, and a blue central seconds hand, the Argenté Black which comes with a silvery white dial and black counters and finally the Light Blue Argenté which features a light blue dial with silver registers.
Inside, the chronometers are powered by an automatic mechanical movement whose oscillating mass is decorated with a pearl finish and the “E” shield followed by inscription “Extra-Fort” in blue matching the tone of the screws and which can be observed through from the open rear case.
The new Extra-fort Vitré come attached to an alligator leather strap with a steel pin buckle adorned with the brand’s signature.
