Doxa Reimagines The SUB 300 In Grade 5 Titanium
Doxa is giving one of its most recognisable dive watches a lighter and more technical interpretation with the new SUB 300 Ti5. While the model follows the familiar design language of the historic SUB 300, its case, crown and caseback are now crafted from Grade 5 titanium, bringing a different character to a watch originally defined by its robust stainless-steel construction.
Unlike the limited titanium execution created for the Clive Cussler edition earlier this year, the SUB 300 Ti5 is not a temporary experiment. It becomes part of Doxa’s permanent collection and is available across six of the brand’s signature dial colours.
The familiar SUB 300 shape, now in titanium
The proportions remain immediately recognisable. The Grade 5 titanium case measures 42.50 mm in diameter, while its compact 45 mm lug-to-lug measurement helps maintain the distinctive, relatively wearable profile of the SUB 300. Overall thickness is 13.40 mm, including the characteristic domed box-shaped sapphire crystal.
Titanium is used extensively throughout the construction, including the crown and screw-down caseback. The result is a substantial dive watch that should feel noticeably lighter on the wrist than its steel counterpart.
Water resistance remains rated at 300 metres, while the patented unidirectional rotating bezel retains Doxa’s distinctive dual-scale system. Rather than simply displaying elapsed dive time, the bezel incorporates both a dive-time scale and a no-decompression limit scale, allowing the SUB 300 to retain one of its defining functional features.
Six colours, one particularly luminous option
Doxa offers the SUB 300 Ti5 in six established colours: Profissional orange, Sharkhunter black, Caribbean blue, Red Coral, Sea Emerald green and WhitePearl.
The WhitePearl references stand apart from the rest of the collection. They can be paired with either a black or white rubber strap and feature a dial almost entirely covered in Super-LumiNova. In low-light conditions, the luminous treatment transforms the dial into an especially bright display.
The dial construction itself is also more technical than it might initially appear. It consists of two superimposed Grade 5 titanium layers,Profe with laser-cut openings in the upper layer revealing the elements beneath. A sandblasted finish adds texture to the surface, while Super-LumiNova is applied to the diving indications.
The oversized central minutes hand remains one of the most distinctive elements of the SUB 300 design, providing an immediate visual indication of the elapsed dive time. A date display is positioned at 3 o’clock.
COSC-certified automatic movement
Inside the titanium case is the Sellita SW200-1, in COSC-certified form. The automatic movement operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides approximately 38 hours of power reserve.
The COSC certification also adds a higher level of officially tested chronometric performance to the collection, complementing the watch’s purpose-built diving specifications.
Dive Flex rubber straps
The lightweight construction continues through to the wrist. Each SUB 300 Ti5 is supplied on Doxa’s textured Dive Flex rubber strap, secured by a pin buckle.
Strap colours vary according to the reference, with some versions receiving a strap matching the dial and others using black rubber. The WhitePearl models offer the choice between black and white.
The combination of Grade 5 titanium and rubber gives the SUB 300 Ti5 a distinctly modern tool-watch character, while the case architecture, bezel and dial preserve the visual identity that has made the SUB 300 one of Doxa’s signature models.
A permanent titanium SUB 300
With the SUB 300 Ti5, Doxa has essentially taken one of its most historically recognisable dive-watch designs and changed the material without abandoning its defining characteristics.
The 42.50 mm case, 300-metre water resistance, dual-scale bezel, oversized minute hand and highly legible dial remain firmly rooted in the SUB 300 formula. Grade 5 titanium, however, brings lower weight, a more technical appearance and a contemporary feel to the package.
