Mido expands its versatile Ocean Star GMT range with a new, attention-grabbing variant—this time pairing gold PVD finishes with rich chocolate tones, offering a bold look without compromising on function or value. This latest edition continues the line’s mission: combining everyday practicality with professional-grade dive watch specifications.

Designed to serve as a dual-purpose companion, the Ocean Star GMT combines the key features of a dive watch with the convenience of a second time zone.. It’s engineered with a robust 44 mm stainless steel case, treated in a yellow gold PVD coating, which gives the watch a warmer, more refined presence without losing its sportiness. At 13.28 mm thick and 50 mm lenght, the case maintains solid wrist presence while remaining wearable for most.

The unidirectional ceramic bezel offers the standard 60-minute dive timing function—kept completely separate from the GMT complication, so the two features don’t interfere. The watch maintains a 200-meter water resistance rating, suitable for recreational diving. The solid caseback is engraved with a world time zone map, reinforcing the travel-focused intent of the design.

Functional and Legible

The dial layout supports both timekeeping and quick legibility. The deep black dial is paired with gold-plated hour and minute hands, oversized applied indexes, and generous Super-LumiNova for visibility in low light and underwater. A 24-hour inner ring tracks a second time zone, with a two-tone color split (black for night, brown for day) for at-a-glance differentiation. The brown GMT hand integrates visually with the overall color scheme, and the date disc is smartly color-matched in black.

At its core, the Ocean Star GMT runs on an upgraded version of the Powermatic 80 movement—an evolution of the ETA 2824. Beyond its 80-hour power reserve, the caliber incorporates a Nivachron hairspring, providing improved resistance to magnetic fields. Importantly, this is a true GMT movement: the local hour hand can be adjusted independently in one-hour increments, making it ideal for crossing time zones on the move.

The watch is paired with a supple chocolate brown rubber strap, color-matched to the dial accents, and secured by a gold PVD folding clasp featuring a diving extension. Quick-release spring bars add convenience for strap changes.
