Citizen Unveils Series 8890 Dive Watch
Citizen is once again expanding its Sport Luxury Series 8 line, and after the mechanical time-date versions 8830 and GMT 8880 now comes the Series 8890 with a dive watch.
The new watch arrives in three variants, two that become part of the permanent collection and the other in a limited edition of 1,700 pieces.
The new watch wears a barrel-shaped stainless steel case that comes with dimensions of 40.80mm in diameter, 11.70mm in thickness and 46.60mm lug-to-lug distance featuring a raised octagonal bezel, and which comes with a brushed finish on the surfaces and polished on the bezels. Sapphire crystal, pull crown at 3 o’clock with guards whose shape is also repeated on the left side of the case, a second crown at 2 o’clock that controls the inner bezel, screwed sapphire case back and 200m water resistance.
The dial features the Japanese checkered motif and on it, we can find applied hour markers and faceted hands all filled with luminescent material, a framed date window next to the crown and a two-tone rotating diving bezel.
As for the different variants, there is one in steel that comes with a blue dial, another that comes with a gold-plated steel case with black crown guards on both sides and a grey dial, and finally, there is a limited edition that comes in a steel case with black crowns and a salmon dial with a cherry blossom pattern.
Inside runs the In-house Caliber 9051 automatic movement, which comes with an accuracy of -10 / +20 seconds per day, reaching 28,800 Vph and offering up to 42 hours of power reserve.
The watch is attached to an integrated bracelet with “H”-shaped links with a folding clasp, which due to the non-articulation of the first links makes it fit larger on the wrist (50.70 mm) than the advertised 46.60 mm.
The new Citizen Series 8 890 are now available and can be purchased with prices ranging from USD 1,595 for the two steel versions and USD 1,695 for the gold-plated steel case variant.
