Citizen NJ0150 Finally Arrives in Europe
After debuting on the Asian market a few months ago, the new Citizen NJ0150, which many call the Rolex Oyster Perpetual killer, now arrives in Europe.
The similarities are notable between the watches even though they are separated by an “ocean” in terms of quality and obviously price, however for less than €280 now many can “experience” the feeling of having a coloured Oyster Perpetual on the wrist without having to break the budget and without having a waitlist for months.
However, if the Citizen NJ0150 looks like the Oyster Perpetual through the coloured dial, with an obvious highlight for the yellow tone, it also adds features from other models, such as the data window with “cyclops” on the sapphire crystal and here more in the style of the Date Just, the same can be said about the case that recalls the former Oysterquartz that came with an integrated bracelet, although with different configurations of three links or five links, while the new Citizen now opts for the Rolex Day-Date presidential bracelet style, so we’re tempted to say the new Citizen NJ0150 is inspired by not one but a mix of four Rolex models.
The first conclusion that we can draw is that the almost € 280 requested for the new Citizen NJ0150, in addition to offering an elegant and very attractive watch, it also offers a good value for money.
But let’s get down to business, the new Citizen is presented on the outside in a stainless steel case measuring 40mm in diameter by 11.7mm in thickness and 49mm in the lug-to-lug distance, smooth bezel and with an alternating polished and brushed finish. Crown at 4 o’clock that is almost imperceptible when retracted, sapphire crystal with “cyclops” and 50 meters of water resistance. Over the colourful dials that come with sunray effect, rhodium-plated baton hour markers, and hands all filled with luminescence material, date window at 3 o’clock and to finish the brand inscriptions at 12 o’clock and as an opposing side “Automatic ” in reference to movement. Inside it is powered by Caliber 8210, with an accuracy of about 20 seconds a day and offering up to 40 hours of power reserve, which you can see through the open case back. As mentioned, the watch comes with an integrated three-link steel bracelet, with the central links having a polished finish while the outer links are given a brushed finish.
Of the five variants plus two presented in Asia, for now on Citizen’s European website, only four variants are available, namely, the yellow (NJ0150-81Z), green (NJ0150-81X), black (NJ0150-81E) and blue (NJ0150-81L), while the white-silver (NJ0150-81A), two-tone (NJ0154-81H) with a black dial and the black PVD coat (NJ0155-87E) with a camo dial still missing, so it is possible that they will arrive later. The watches can be purchased at the brand’s official boutiques and authorized retailers with prices starting at €279.
Our Opinion
Like the Tissot PRX, we believe that it can be a huge success. We especially liked the more eye-catching versions in yellow and green, which is nothing new, since the launch of the Oyster Perpetual there has been a real race in search of these coloured dials. As far as the size is concerned, we would rather have opted for more moderate measurements around the 36/38mm, which did not leave out an audience with smaller wrists, however, and for us, this continues to be a general problem among many of other Citizen models. Finally, two words about the price, very good!
