Chronoswiss Lunar Chronograph Aurora: Tradition Reimagined In Green
With the Lunar Chronograph Aurora, Chronoswiss continues to build on a design language that has defined the brand since its founding in 1983 by Gerd Rüdiger Lang. Now headquartered in Lucerne under the ownership of Oliver Ebstein and Eva Ebstein, the independent manufacture blends its signature neoclassical codes with contemporary materials and colours.

The Lunar Chronograph Aurora revisits one of the brand’s earliest chronograph concepts from the 1980s—combining chronograph timing with a moon phase and date display—while introducing a striking, modern dial execution.
A Signature Chronoswiss Case
The Aurora is housed in a stainless steel case measuring 41 mm in diameter and 15 mm in thickness, dimensions that provide strong wrist presence while remaining balanced. The construction showcases the brand’s unmistakable design codes, including an oversized screw-down onion crown and a finely knurled bezel. Both the front and caseback are fitted with curved sapphire crystals treated with anti-reflective coating, and the watch offers a water-resistance rating of 100 metres.

In terms of finishing, the case is predominantly polished, giving it a refined and slightly dressy appearance. This is contrasted by brushed surfaces along the sides and on the screwed lugs, adding visual depth and subtle sportiness to the overall profile.
A CVD Green Dial with Dynamic Character
The defining element of the Aurora is its fully CVD-coated deep green dial, designed to shift between green and blue hues depending on the angle of the light. This dynamic effect brings a contemporary dimension to what is otherwise a classically structured dial.
The display follows a traditional triple-register chronograph layout. A 12-hour counter is positioned at 6 o’clock, the running seconds are placed at 9 o’clock, and the 30-minute chronograph counter sits at 12 o’clock. At 3 o’clock, the sub-dial integrates the moon phase complication. The date is displayed on the periphery of the dial and is indicated by a central pointer hand distinguished by a purple crescent-shaped tip.

The dial architecture is carefully layered. The outermost track carries the date scale, followed by a precise minutes and seconds track for the central chronograph hand. Further inward, a chapter ring frames the Breguet-style Arabic numerals. At the centre of the dial, Chronoswiss applies two different guilloché patterns: a chequered motif within the sub-dials and a concentric pattern in the middle section. All inscriptions and markings are executed in white for clarity, while the Breguet-style open-tipped hour and minute hands are complemented by bright white lacquered chronograph hands. The purple-tipped date hand adds a discreet yet distinctive modern accent.
Calibre C.755 – Mechanical Substance
Through the sapphire caseback, the Calibre C.755 is on display. This automatic chronograph movement is based on the well-known architecture of the Valjoux 7750 and is enhanced by Chronoswiss with a proprietary module that integrates the moon phase and date functions.

The movement operates at a frequency of 4Hz, equivalent to 28,800 vibrations per hour, and delivers a power reserve of approximately 46 hours. The finishing includes Côtes de Genève on the bridges and perlage decoration on the mainplate. The openworked rotor is coated in green CVD to visually connect the movement with the dial, reinforcing the coherence of the overall design.
Strap and Availability
The Lunar Chronograph Aurora is paired with a dark grey Nubuck leather strap, which complements the shifting green tones of the dial while maintaining a refined character. Like other versions in the collection, this new edition is priced at € 10,800.

With its blend of classical chronograph architecture, traditional decorative techniques and contemporary colour treatment, the Chronoswiss Lunar Chronograph Aurora stands as a technically complete and visually distinctive addition to the brand’s portfolio.
