Christopher Ward Elevates The C1 Bel Canto: Introducing The Refined Bel Canto Classic
In 2022, Christopher Ward captivated watch enthusiasts with the C1 Bel Canto, a model that brought the chimes complication into a more accessible price range. Now, two years later, the brand introduces a refined evolution: the C1 Bel Canto Classic. This updated model combines Christopher Ward’s signature chimes complication with a streamlined design and offers four captivating dial colour options that elevate its classic appeal.
Encased in Grade 5 Titanium, the C1 Bel Canto Classic boasts a 41mm diameter, 13mm thickness, and 48mm lug-to-lug length. This durable yet lightweight case presents a blend of brushed surfaces and polished bevels, accentuated by curved lugs that add ergonomic comfort. Enhancing its sleek profile, the watch now features a Glassbox sapphire crystal, offering greater clarity and an unimpeded view of the dial’s intricacies. On the case, a refined fluted crown sits at 2 o’clock, paired with a mono-pusher at 4 o’clock that activates the watch’s signature chimes complication, while the timepiece maintains a water resistance rating of 30 meters.
The C1 Bel Canto Classic’s dial showcases a laser-etched guilloché pattern plate on the lower section, with four colour variations: blue, green, silver, and gold. The lower half houses the sophisticated chime mechanism, while an off-centre sub-dial with Roman numerals and a recessed minute track ring with dot markers occupies the upper half. This dial is held together by a skeletonized bridge finished with a polish, adding depth and elegance. The model’s colour schemes for the hands and indicators complement each dial variant, with contrasting choices like silver on blue and green, blue on silver, and gold with black. In a unique touch, the on/off indicator for the “Sonnerie a Passage” chimes function is painted red in the blue and green versions, further enhancing its refined aesthetic.
Inside, the watch is powered by the reliable Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement, coupled with Frank Stelzer’s FS01 module specifically engineered to enable the chimes complication. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, this movement provides a power reserve of up to 38 hours.
The Christopher Ward C1 Bel Canto Classic comes with the option of a tapered leather strap or a Grade 2 titanium bracelet with a folding clasp, priced at €4,450 and €4,885, respectively. With the first deliveries expected in early December, this release promises to continue the legacy of the Bel Canto series while bringing refined elegance and a melodic touch to the wrists of horology aficionados.
