Christopher Ward Brings Back Its Jump Hour In A New 39mm Case
Fifteen years after Christopher Ward introduced its first in-house complication, the brand returns to the mechanism that helped shape its watchmaking identity. The C1 Jump Hour XV revisits the original Jump Hour concept with a more compact case, sharper dial execution and the JJ01 module that started the journey.

Limited to just 300 pieces, the new model connects Christopher Ward’s early experimentation with the more sophisticated finishing and engineering developed by the brand in the years since.
A Jump Hour with a distinctive display
The C1 Jump Hour XV retains the characteristic architecture of the original C9 Jump Hour, particularly its concentric dial pattern radiating from the centre and the Roman numeral aperture used to display the hour.
The execution, however, has been significantly refined. Christopher Ward uses a femtosecond laser to create the stamping tool responsible for the dial’s concentric pattern. This allows the grooves to be produced with greater depth and definition, giving the surface a sharper three-dimensional effect.

Surrounding the central pattern is a redesigned trapezoidal chapter ring separating it from the peripheral minute track. Its revised geometry adds further depth to the dial while helping distinguish the different layers of the display.
The minute hand has also received a substantial update. Instead of the original black feuille-style hand, the C1 Jump Hour XV uses a faceted hand with a brushed finish and vibrant blue colouring. Against the textured dial, it provides a clear visual indication of the minutes while introducing a stronger contemporary accent.
At the centre of the display, the jumping hour changes instantaneously through the Roman numeral aperture, creating the unusual reading experience that defines the model.
A smaller, more contemporary case
The stainless-steel case measures 39 mm in diameter and 13.10 mm thick, making the new model considerably more compact than the 43 mm C9 Jump Hour introduced in 2011.

Beyond the obvious difference in proportions, the reduced dimensions demonstrate how Christopher Ward has been able to develop and manufacture its complication within tighter tolerances. The result is a watch that preserves the distinctive architecture of the original while adapting it to contemporary case dimensions.
The relatively restrained diameter should also make the C1 Jump Hour XV considerably more versatile on the wrist than its predecessor.
The JJ01 returns
At the heart of the watch is the JJ01 jump hour module, the complication Christopher Ward originally introduced in 2011. Rather than simply recreating the historical watch, the brand continues to use the module as the mechanical foundation for this anniversary edition.

The system is integrated with a Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement, providing a 38-hour power reserve and automatic winding.
The movement is hidden beneath a solid caseback featuring an engraving inspired by the C1 Jump Hour Mark V. Its design incorporates 12 larger hour markers and 60 smaller minute markers, creating a graphic representation of the watch’s two primary time indications.
Strap and bracelet options
Christopher Ward offers the C1 Jump Hour XV with either an Italian leather strap or a five-link Consort bracelet.
The leather configuration is priced at GBP 1,795, while the bracelet version costs GBP 1,940.

Limited to 300 individually numbered pieces, the C1 Jump Hour XV marks 15 years since Christopher Ward first introduced the JJ01 while demonstrating how considerably the brand’s approach to case construction, dial production and finishing has evolved.
