Chopard in Partnership with George Bamford Presents its 33rd Edition of Mille Miglia
Let’s go to another Pitch Watch
In 1927, the Mille Miglia was born in Italy, a long-distance automobile race held on a road that took place between the cities of Brescia and Rome, which included a round trip in a total of about a thousand miles (1,600 km) with a format of an “8”, an event that lasted 20 years being banned in 1957 after having registered two fatal accidents that caused 12 fatalities among which 3 drivers and co-pilots and 9 spectators. In 1977 and 20 years after the tragic accidents that led to the suspension of the race, the event was resurrected as a classic car race, with construction until 1957, and that have participated or been registered in the original event.
Since 1988, Chopard has partnered with Mille Miglia to produce a watch each year to celebrate this historic automotive event and this year the 33rd edition of the Chopard Mille Miglia has had the precious collaboration of George Bamford through the Bamford Watch Department.
But let’s go straight to the watch, the 2021 edition of the Chopard Mille Miglia, comes with a 42 mm stainless steel case with DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating that gives it a gray hue, serrated crown, and two pusher buttons, sapphire crystal glass, open-through case back fixed by eight screws and painted with the automobile event logo and the inscription “Bamford Limited Edition of 33”. Inside, the chronograph features a gray dial with the usual configuration of recent editions, which includes the tachymeter inner ring and three counters with orange accents – a small seconds at 3 o’clock, 12-hours at 6, and 30-minutes at 9.
On the dial we can still find a date aperture at 4 ½ o’clock, Arabic hour markers and hours and minutes hands all filled with Super-LumiNova and an orange central sweep-seconds hand. Inside it operates an automatic movement that operates at 28,800 Vph and offers up to 42 hours of power reserve and is a Chronometer Certified by COSC.
The chronograph is offered with the Cordura-effect black rubber strap with orange stitching and stainless steel DLC coating hardware.
As already mentioned, this is a limited edition of 33 units and is already available in the brand’s official stores and retailers as well as in the online store of Bamford for the price of CHF 7,970.
