Certina DS-1 Introduces Elegant Day-Date Version
The versatile and affordable Certina DS-1, which until now was available in 40mm with time-date functions and in 41mm Big date, now adds a day-date version in 40mm.
The watch arrives with three colour variants on the dial, with a square date aperture at 6 o’clock and a new curved window at noon with the day of the week in the style of the Rolex “Presidential”.
The new variant of the DS-1 follows the same round stainless steel case configuration that alternates between polished and brushed finishes, featuring a smooth bezel, lugs with wide bevels, sapphire crystal, fluted crown at 3 o’clock with the “DS” signature and wavy guards, open case back and 100m water resistance.
The clean dial comes in three variants, in silver with polished accents, in black with gold indexes and in silver with gilt details. The layout is adorned with faceted hour markers, a railroad minute track next to the edges, and a middle ring with a new railroad track scaled from 13 to 24 hours which in the silver-gilt version is replaced by a wider gold ring without markings. In the center Dauphine hands and a needle second hand that in the silver version comes in heat-blue and finally the day and date windows mentioned above.
Inside they are powered by the 25-jewel ETA 2834-2 automatic movement that runs 28,800 Vph and offers up to 42 hours of power reserve.
The silver and silver-gold versions come attached to a leather strap in shades of blue or grey respectively, priced at €850, while the black variant comes attached to a Mesh steel bracelet priced at €890.
