Union Glashütte Unveils Averin Chronograph Sachsen Classic 2026 Limited Edition
The Sachsen Classic has become one of the highlights of Union Glashütte’s annual calendar, serving as the perfect occasion to unveil a special timepiece inspired by historic motorsport. For the 2026 edition of the rally, the German watchmaker departs from the familiar Noramis Chronograph and instead turns to the bolder Averin Chronograph, whose square case and dashboard-inspired design naturally echo the golden era of racing.
The watch retains the distinctive architecture of the standard Averin Chronograph, featuring a stainless steel case measuring 41 mm x 41 mm, with a thickness of 15.45 mm and a 49.47 mm lug-to-lug distance. The case combines brushed and polished finishes that highlight its angular profile, while a domed sapphire crystal follows the shape of the case. On the right side, the crown is flanked by two rectangular chronograph pushers, and the sapphire crystal caseback offers a view of the movement inside. Water resistance is rated at 100 metres.
Racing-Inspired Dial
The standout feature of this Sachsen Classic edition is its new dial, which draws inspiration from the colourful liveries of racing cars from the 1970s and 1980s.
The textured white dial features an embossed tile-like pattern crossed by bold signal red, Nardo grey and Daytona grey stripes. Two square registers, displaying the running seconds and the 30-minute chronograph counter, reinforce the dashboard-inspired aesthetic, while the central chronograph seconds hand is finished in bright red to enhance legibility. Nickel-plated hour and minute hands are filled with Super-LumiNova, and a discreet date window sits at 6 o’clock, preserving the balanced layout of the regular collection.
Proven Automatic Chronograph Movement
Powering the watch is the Calibre UNG-27.S2, Union Glashütte’s automatic chronograph movement based on the well-known Valjoux 7750 architecture. It operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and provides a minimum power reserve of 65 hours.
The movement features a cam-operated chronograph mechanism, a silicon balance spring for improved resistance to magnetic fields and temperature variations, and a stop-seconds function for precise time setting.
Two Strap Options
The limited edition is delivered with two interchangeable straps that can be swapped thanks to a quick-release system. Buyers receive a vibrant red rubber strap for a sportier appearance and a grey perforated leather strap with a contrasting red lining that further reinforces the vintage motorsport theme.

The Union Glashütte Averin Chronograph Limited Edition Sachsen Classic 2026 is limited to 350 individually numbered pieces and will be available for € 3,700.
