Stowa Unveils Flieger Olymp Trio Inspired By Olympic Medals
German watchmaker Stowa, known for producing pilot’s watches and becoming popular for being one of the official suppliers of the German Luftwaffe, presents a trio of watches dedicated to the Olympic Games.
The new Stowa Flieger Olymp comes in different materials, living up to the three Olympic medals – gold, silver and bronze. With a Type A layout on the dial and hand-wound movement visible through the open case back.
The rose gold edition comes in a 41mm by 12.80mm case featuring a polished finish, the 925 silver edition comes slightly larger with a 42mm by 13.50mm case and with a sand-blasted matte finish, the same as we found in the edition bronze although it comes with the dimensions of the gold version.
The round cases feature a smooth bezel, narrow lugs, sapphire crystal, onion-shaped crown that in the gold version is replaced by a fluted crown with the brand’s signature, screwed sapphire case back and 50m water resistance.
On the matte black dial, the traditional arrangement with large Arabic numerals and a triangle between two dots at noon, baton minutes markers and three heat-blue centre hands all filled with old Radium Super-LumiNova and the usual absence of inscriptions that characterize the brand.
The open case back reveals the 17-jewel ETA 6498-1-based Caliber M1 hand-winding movement that operates 18,000 Vph and offers up to 46 hours of power reserve. Decorated with sunray stripes on the bridges, gold engravings, blue screws and lilac jewels.
The new Stowa Fliger Olymp comes attached to a vintage-inspired leather strap in brown, black or grey with a pin buckle in the same material as the case.
The bronze edition is limited to 18 units and comes with a price of €4,124.12, the 9-piece silver comes marked with a fee of €5,157.73 and finally the gold edition of just 3 items has a charge of €9,808.99.
