Richard Mille Presents the World’s Thinnest Watch, the RM UP-01Ferrari

Last week Richard Mille surprised the horological community with what should be the world’s thinnest watch in the near future. As everyone knows, Richard Mille is not exactly known for producing this type of pieces, on the contrary, until now its entire collection was composed of robust pieces of generous dimensions, to be seen by those who wear them and admired by others.

The RM UP-01 Ferrari is the result of a collaboration with the Scuderia Ferrari brand and is a limited edition of 150 pieces. As we have already mentioned, the new watch is surprising for its reduced thickness, it is only 1.75mm, leaving behind those who take years to specialize in this art, of course, we are talking about the prestigious brands like Piaget and Bulgari that compete with each other in this field, although the arrival of the new Bulgari Octo Finissimo Ultra with only 1.8mm of thickness has already been announced.

And if dimensions are a problem for fans of the brand, then they can rest easy, as, despite the incredibly reduced thickness, the watch maintains the remaining generous dimensions q.b.

The watch, which is based on a titanium grade 5 case, despite its “thinness”, does not come with an integrated movement, which increases the spectacularity of its execution. So the new Caliber, just 1.18mm thick, comes with a new patented escapement with a variable-inertia balance wheel in titanium. This manual movement, which offers up to 45 hours of power reserve, can also withstand accelerations of up to 5,000 g’s.

On the dial, at the top centre a time sub-dial, at the top right the escapement and just below the Ferrari logo and on the opposite side on the top left a first selector that allows you to choose between winding or time-setting and then under a second selector that complements the first one in the selected tasks, both selectors work with the help of a key. The case back is engraved with the watch brand on the top and on the back with the watch model preceded by “Limited Edition”.

Lastly, the watch is supplied with a black rubber strap made of synthetic materials, and now prepare the wallets, it can be purchased for the price of USD 1,888,000… each unit of course.
