Raymond Weil has just expanded its Millesime collection inspired by the roots of Swiss watchmaking by introducing a new small seconds silver – winner of the Challenge Watch Prize at the GPHG 2023, which is also joined by a new blue variant with three central hands, becoming part of the RW permanent collection.

Both watches wear a 39.50mm stainless steel case with a mainly polished finish, drilled straight lugs, sapphire crystal on both sides, fluted crown with the brand’s signature and 50m water resistance.

The dials maintain the standard configuration of the collection, featuring a dial sector, where we can find a crosshairs central disc that houses Dauphine hands filled with Super-LumiNova, a central seconds hand in the ref. 2925 and a small seconds at 6 o’clock in ref. 2930. We can also find two peripheral rings, one adorned with baton hour markers and the other with a minute track.

The ref. 2925 with three central hands comes with a blue dial, joining the three other existing editions in black, salmon and silver, the latter in a stainless steel case with a rose gold PVD. It features a case thickness of 9.25mm that houses the 26-jewel RW4200 automatic movement that offers up to 35 hours of power reserve.

The version awarded ref. 2930 with a small seconds features a silver dial, joining the already existing black edition, whose case is 10.25mm high, where inside we can find the Caliber RW4251 with 38 hours of power reserve and which comes with an oscillating mass in the shape of a ‘W’ which can be admired through the open rear case.

The watches come attached to a vintage-inspired leather strap matching the colour of the dials.

After this year we see Raymond Weil announce the arrival of Freelancer Pop Chronograph in partnership with the musicians Sandy Sax and Victor Le Douarec in a limited edition, the watchmaker brand repeats the formula but now in partnership with The Basquiat artist.

Jean-Michael Basquiat was an enigmatic and prominent North American artist of urban and contemporary art who was noted in the 1980s, leaving his work unfinished by a premature death at the age of 27.

This special edition Freelance Chronograph pays tribute to the artist, highlighting many of his works in the form of colours, figures and symbols.

The new Freelance Chronograph returns to wear the robust case in full titanium of 43.50mm diameter by 13.70mm thick, ceramic bezel, PVD coating crown and pushers decorated with the paintings of the yellow crown and symbols ‘$’ and Copyright respectively — sapphire glass on both sides and lastly 100m of water resistance.

The black dial is inspired by many of Basquiat’s works. Still, it is the colourful and fun forms that give life to the watch, namely the yellow crown that marks 12 o’clock and shines in the dark thanks to its filling with Super Luminova which we can also find in the hour’s markers and in the central pointers. The two counters in addition to the white tones notes also add details in yellow, red and blue in harmony with the decoration we found at Tachymeter bezel. In the dial, we can also find the dinosaur T-Rex figure in the centre and a pulsometer scale in the falange with blue and yellow strokes and whose shades also give colour to the chronograph centre seconds hand.

Inside there is nothing new, operating the RW5030 caliber based on the Sellita SW510 automatic movement, which reaches 28,800 Vph and offers up to 56 hours of power reserve.

The exclusive timepiece is attached to a black calf leather strap with a titanium clasp and can be purchased at USD 4,495 price which curiously represents a USD 500 prize compared to the limited version released in July and which came with a titanium bracelet.

Raymond Weil turns the page on his Freelancer collection. Born in 2007, the Freelancer collection has undergone different iterations over the years, embracing different complications and styles, among more than four dozen models, but to this day all of them share the same round case shape.

And today, sixteen later, the new Raymond Weil Freelancer is built under the reference 2790, which breaks previous standards and now embraces a square cushion-shaped case, in the style of the 70s.

The new square steel case comes with dimensions of 40mm by 40mm and 10.50mm in thickness, round bevels and a polished finish. Smooth bezel, sapphire glass with a double AR coating, fluted screw-down crown with brand’s logo carved, open case-back and 100m of water resistance.

The green or blue dial features a gradient effect whose tones intensify from the centre to the periphery. Built in four layers, on the central disc we find a grained background, followed by two floors where silver-plated hour markers sit and which, like the central hour and minute hands, are filled with Super-LumiNova, and also an open Balance Wheel with a horizontal bridge that houses a running second at 6 o’clock. Finally, a minute chapter ring is painted in white.

Inside runs the automatic movement manufactured RW1212 from 2017 developed in partnership with Sellita, with the Incabloc shock protection system and Etachron regulator. Reaching 28,800 Bph and offering up to 38 hours of power reserve.

The new watch is offered with two strap options, namely the Jubille-type steel bracelet or a calf leather strap matching the dial tone, with prices varying between €2,575 and €2,525 for each option respectively.

A quick note for the reduced size with the reference 2490 which comes in five variants in the same green and blue tones, here embracing a steel case measuring 34.50mm by 34.50mm and a thickness of 9.30mm, with options of smooth or a 60-diamond set bezel, on the dial the open Balance wheel gives way to a date window at 6 o’clock that translates into the RW4200 automatic movement.

With great traditions in the music industry, over the years Raymond Weil has established several partnerships with musicians and other protagonists of that milieu and it is in this context that the brand has just announced the latest collaboration with saxophonist Sandy Sax and pianist Victor Le Douarec which results in the limited edition Raymond Weil Freelancer Pop Chronograph Bi-Compax.

The new chronograph, which is housed in a robust Titanium case measuring 43.5mm in diameter and 13.7mm thick, comes with a fixed bezel and a black ceramic insert with a tachymeter scale, sapphire glass front and back, fluted crown at 3 o’clock flanked by two bulky pump pushers and 100m of water resistance.

But it is the dial of the watch that stands out as it features an unusual colour combination, with a grey gradient centre, followed by a radial ring that comes with a black guilloche pattern and ends in a turquoise outer ring pulsometer. The hue also extends to the two totalizers at 3 and 9 o’clock and also to the chronograph centre seconds hand. The dial is completed with a date window at 6 o’clock that comes with a characteristic “musical” font, applied hour markers and hands all filled with luminescent material.

Inside, the main protagonist is the Caliber RW5030 automatic movement based on the modified Sellita SW510, which reaches 28,800 Vph and offers up to 56 hours of power reserve.

The chronograph is attached to a “Jubilee” type Titanium bracelet of 5 links with a folding clasp.

A total of 400 pieces will be worldwide available, which can be purchased at the brand’s official boutiques and authorized retailers for the price of USD 3,995.
