Introducing The New Ollech & Wajs M-52B AF

Ollech & Wajs (OW) is another historic Swiss watch brand that we haven’t had the opportunity to talk about here yet.

Having completed almost seven decades of existence, OW became known above all for the manufacture of highly accurate diving watches and chronographs, having throughout its history supplied many timepieces to different military forces of several countries, such as the US and UK, among these forces were the US Airmen who served in the Vietnam War for whom the OW B-905 was produced.

And today, more than half a century later, OW brings back the 1966 diving watch in a contemporary limited edition of 56 pieces that pays homage to the epic timepiece.

The new OW M-52B AF maintains many of the similarities with the original model, with the main focus on the dial that is once again designed with the legendary B-52 bomber, which completes 70 years of service.

The watch is presented in a round stainless steel case with dimensions of 39.50mm in diameter, 12.50mm in thickness and 47.50mm lug-to-lug distance that comes with a brushed finish, a black PVD coated bidirectional bezel with a 60-minute scale and beige luminous markers. Domed sapphire crystal, screw-down crown and case back and 300m waterproof.

On the black dial, beyond the B-52 draw we can find some differences compared to the original, with the previous triangular markers at 6-9-12 o’clock now being replaced by baton markers, the former date window at 3 o’clock is now placed at 6 o’clock, however maintaining the inscriptions of Arabic numbers in red, and the printed minute track which now appears longer. The center is once again operated by two baton hands filled with beige Super-LumiNova just like the new baton markers introduced above, maintaining the original round shape and white lume for the remaining hours and a center seconds hand with an arrow-shaped tip. Finally, a reference to the four inscriptions in each of the quadrants of the dial that in the original appeared horizontally and now appear diagonally, of which only ‘AF’ has been maintained and the other three have been replaced by ‘Zurich’ hometown of the watchmaking brand, ‘1956’ year of its foundation and ‘M-52B’ referring to the new model.

Inside, it comes equipped with the 25-jewel Suprod P024 automatic movement, operating at 28,800 Vph and offering up to 38 hours of power reserve.

The watch, which comes attached to a black RAF nylon strap, can also be purchased with an extra steel Mesh bracelet.

The pre-order period begins on January 12, 2024, with each piece individually numbered and can be purchased for CHF 1,256, plus  CHF 126 if you choose to include the steel bracelet.
