Gallet Returns Under Breitling: A New Chapter Begins
In a bold move to expand its reach across different price segments, Breitling is set to revive the historic Gallet brand, with new models expected to debut in mid-2026. This marks another strategic acquisition for the Swiss powerhouse, further strengthening its presence in the watch industry by offering more accessible options to consumers.
Gallet, a name steeped in horological heritage since 1826, will be positioned as a value-driven alternative within the Breitling ecosystem. The new collection will feature chronographs and other timepieces priced between just under 3,000 and 5,000 Swiss francs, significantly lower than Breitling’s current average price point. This move aims to capture a wider audience, particularly those seeking Swiss craftsmanship at a more attainable level.
The relaunched Gallet watches will draw inspiration from the brand’s rich history, including models like the MultiChron and the Flying Officer—worn by notable figures such as U.S. President Harry S. Truman. These timepieces, expected to house reliable Sellita or other third-party movements, will be assembled in Breitling’s production facilities and sold in select Breitling boutiques worldwide.
Breitling CEO Georges Kern highlighted the strategic value of Gallet, noting that many potential customers have been walking away from Breitling boutiques due to pricing constraints. With Gallet under its wing, Breitling now has a compelling offering for this segment of buyers, ensuring they don’t leave empty-handed.
This acquisition follows Breitling’s earlier purchase of Universal Genève, another legendary but dormant Swiss watchmaker. However, unlike Gallet, Universal Genève will cater to a much higher-end clientele, with prices starting above 15,000 Swiss francs and featuring precious metals and proprietary movements.
With the global watch market evolving, Breitling’s approach reflects a broader trend of reviving historic names to tap into growing consumer interest in heritage brands. As Gallet prepares for its grand return, collectors and enthusiasts alike can look forward to a modern interpretation of some of the most iconic timepieces in horological history.
