New Hanhart Thermosphere Limited Edition Pays Tribute to Firefighters
German watchmaker Hanhart has unveiled the new Thermosphere Limited Edition, a special model developed in collaboration with the Baden-Württemberg State Firefighters Association. Drawing its foundations from the brand’s Aquasphere diving watch, the Thermosphere adapts the concept for a completely different professional environment, incorporating timing features inspired by the breathing apparatus monitoring systems used by firefighters during emergency interventions.

Limited to just 112 pieces—a tribute to Europe’s emergency telephone number for fire and rescue services—the watch combines robust construction, high visibility, and practical functionality.
Familiar Aquasphere Architecture
The Thermosphere shares its case design with the Aquasphere collection, featuring a 42 mm stainless steel case with a mix of brushed and polished finishes. The case measures 12.95 mm thick and spans 49 mm lug-to-lug, offering a balanced presence on the wrist.

Built as a true professional-grade instrument, the watch provides 300 meters of water resistance and comes equipped with a screw-down crown protected by crown guards, a helium escape valve, and a screwed caseback. The latter is decorated with the emblem of the Baden-Württemberg State Firefighters Association, highlighting the watch’s special-edition status.
Bezel Designed Around Firefighting Operations
One of the most distinctive elements of the Thermosphere is its bezel. Unlike the Aquasphere’s traditional diving scale, the new model features a bidirectional rotating bezel fitted with a blue ceramic insert displaying luminous triangular markers.

These markings are inspired by the checkpoints used during breathing apparatus operations. By aligning the bezel with the minute hand at the start of a mission, firefighters can quickly track elapsed time and monitor critical stages of an intervention, including air supply management.
The bezel markings are coated with Super-LumiNova, ensuring visibility in smoke-filled or low-light environments.
Highly Legible Blue Dial
The dark blue dial continues the watch’s focus on readability. Large applied hour markers and skeletonized hands are generously filled with Super-LumiNova, providing strong contrast both during daylight and in darkness.

Color accents in yellow, red, and blue reference the visual language commonly associated with emergency services. The emergency number “112” is prominently displayed at 12 o’clock beneath the triangular marker, while the official Baden-Württemberg Firefighters Association emblem appears above the 6 o’clock position.
A practical date display is integrated at 3 o’clock without disrupting the overall symmetry of the dial.
Automatic Swiss Movement
Powering the Thermosphere is either the Sellita SW200-1 or the Soprod P024 automatic movement, depending on component availability. Both calibers offer identical functionality, including central hours, minutes, hacking seconds, and date indication.

Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), the movements provide approximately 38 hours of power reserve. Hanhart also states that every movement is individually regulated in Germany according to the brand’s internal standards, achieving an accuracy target of between 0 and +8 seconds per day.
Strap Options and Availability
The Hanhart Thermosphere Limited Edition is delivered on a blue elastic hook strap designed for quick adjustment and easy use over protective clothing. Buyers can also opt for a stainless steel bracelet.
Limited to 112 individually numbered examples, the new Thermosphere will be available from June 2026 with a retail price of € 1,640 including VAT.
