Just two years after launching Grøne as a more accessible extension of the renowned Grönefeld manufacture, the Dutch brand continues to expand its collection with the new Oldenzaal Horologium. Designed as an elegant manual-wind dress watch, the latest release combines traditional proportions, subtle vintage-inspired details and two distinct dial executions, all while remaining true to the brand’s contemporary character.

A Refined Stainless Steel Case

The Grøne Oldenzaal Horologium comes in a stainless steel case measuring 39 mm in diameter and 10 mm in thickness, striking a balanced size suitable for everyday wear as well as more formal occasions.

Compared to previous Grøne models, the case has been refined with a vertically brushed caseband contrasted by polished bezel and caseback surfaces, creating greater visual depth. The redesigned lugs now curve more naturally towards the wrist, improving comfort while preserving the watch’s elegant profile. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, while another sapphire window on the caseback reveals the movement.

Two Distinct Personalities

The watch is offered in two versions, each limited to 188 pieces, allowing buyers to choose between a bold contemporary aesthetic or a more understated classic appearance.

The “Something Quirky” edition features a matte orange dial paired with vivid blue alpha-shaped hands, giving the watch a playful personality inspired by the brand’s Dutch heritage.

For those preferring a more traditional look, the “Something Classic” version combines a sunburst salmon dial with darker blue hands for a warmer, dressier appearance.

Despite their different colour schemes, both share the same overall architecture, including a recessed silver small seconds display at 6 o’clock, faceted applied hour markers and a raised inner chapter ring that lends the dial a subtle sector-style layout with timeless appeal.

Hand-Wound Mechanical Movement

Powering the Oldenzaal Horologium is a hand-wound movement based on the La Joux-Perret G100 calibre. The 29-jewel movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz) and delivers a power reserve of up to 60 hours, providing solid everyday performance.

Visible through the sapphire caseback, the movement receives a refined level of finishing, featuring Côtes de Genève, polished bevels, and heat-blued screws, while a customised Grøne bridge gives it a distinctive identity that reflects the brand’s attention to detail.

Exclusive Details

One unique feature is reserved for the orange “Something Quirky” model. Its sapphire caseback carries the Dutch inscription “Zoals het klokje thuis tikt, tikt het nergens,” a traditional saying that translates roughly to “Home Sweet Home,“ paying tribute to the brand’s origins. The salmon “Something Classic” version instead features a clean sapphire caseback without additional engraving.

Availability and Price

The Grøne Oldenzaal Horologium will be available to order from August 13, with both dial variants produced in limited editions of 188 pieces. The watch is priced at € 2,390 before taxes and shipping.

At the heart of the dial, a salmon tremblage centre captures attention, adorned with three striking blue hands, symbolizing the watch’s minimalist yet refined appeal. The *Grone Oldenzaal* brand insignia sits at the 12 o’clock mark, with the *Manueel* designation at 6 o’clock, creating a balanced and sophisticated layout. A brushed silver chapter ring, stepped for dimension, showcases polished hour markers, while a delicate blue minute track encircles the outer edge, adding a subtle touch of contrast to the watch face.

Powering the *Manueel One* is the Sellita SW210 hand-wound movement, a reliable and efficient calibre that operates at 28,800 Vph and provides a power reserve of up to 42 hours. This movement choice reflects Grone’s commitment to quality mechanics while keeping the watch affordable.

Completing the look is a blue calfskin leather strap with red stitching, underscoring the watch’s contemporary appeal. Initially limited to 388 pieces, the *Manueel One* is priced at €2,150 plus tax, making it an exceptional entry into the world of fine watchmaking for enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
