Christie’s Watches Makes Over CHF 40 Million
Last weekend was marked by the Geneva auctions that took place in the main auction houses, among them Christie’s, which for two days presented 199 pieces distributed in two main lots:
Lot “Rare Watches” took place on the 13th of May, where 159 lots were presented resulting in a total of CHF 26.5 Million in which 98% of the total pieces were sold.
Lot “The Art of F.P. Journe” which happened on the 12th of May, presented a total of 40 lots at auction, which was fully sold for CHF 13.7 Million.
During these two days 6 watches were sold for over CHF 1 Million and 4 for over CHF 500,000, and among bidders and buyers, 52% were from Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), 24% Americas and 24% Asia Pacific (APAC).
The top seller of the Lot “The Rare Watches”:
– Lot 84, Steel Patek Philippe for Tiffany & Co., sold for CHF 2,233,000
– Lot 138, Patek Philippe Ref. 3974 2497R, sold for CHF 1,918,000
– Lot 132, Patek Philippe Ref. 2499, sold for CHF 1,618,000
– Lot 131, Patek Phillipe Ref. 2497, sold for CHF 1,497,000
– Lot 31, Rolex Daytona with a Diamond set-bezel and sapphire set dial and bracelet Ref. 6269, sold for CHF 1,134,000
The top seller of the Lot “The Art of F.P. JOURNE”:
– Lot 2039, Platinum Tourbillon Souverain ‘Souscription” 2/20, sold for CHF 2,707,000
We also highlight three auctioned pieces from the Lot “The Rare Watches” that far exceed the estimated maximum bids:
– Lot 1, Tudor Black Bay – Made for Platinum Jubilee Royal, Est. CHF 6,000 – CHF 12,000, sold for CHF 81,900
– Lot 63, Gerald Genta 18K White Gold – Made for His Majesty King Hassan II of Morocco, Est. CHF 10,000 – CHF 20,000, sold for CHF 163,800
– Lot 65, Cartier Platinum Tank Cintrée, Est. CHF 20,000 – CHF 40,000, sold for CHF 302,400
