Formex Unveils Stratos UTC: A Sophisticated GMT Watch With Jumping Time Zones
Formex’s new Stratos UTC GMT watch is a notable addition to its lineup, marking the brand’s step into the realm of high-end functionality. The standout feature of this timepiece is its jumping time zone system, allowing easy adjustment of local time via two pushers, a function typically seen in luxury brands like Patek Philippe and Ulysse Nardin. This innovation positions Formex as a brand striving to combine accessible pricing with premium watchmaking elements.
The Stratos UTC is housed in a 41mm barrel-shaped stainless steel case with a thickness of 12mm and a lug-to-lug distance of 46.5mm. The watch offers a mix of finishes, including brushed, polished, and sandblasted surfaces, adding to its robust and sophisticated design. The 24-hour bidirectional bezel, crafted in steel and filled with coloured resin, complements the overall aesthetic, while the sapphire crystal, 100m water resistance, and a screwed open case back ensure durability and functionality.
Available in grey, blue, or green dial variations, the watch features intricate details such as semi-open syringe hands with Super-LumiNova, a GMT hand with a coloured tip, and a day/night window at 9 o’clock. The dial is meticulously finished with a sunray-brushed centre and a granulated chapter ring, while a pointer date at 6 o’clock and a 24-hour flange with a coloured scale further enhance its functionality and design.
The Stratos UTC is powered by the reliable ETA 2892 automatic movement, enhanced with a Dubois-Depraz module for the GMT function. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (Vph), it offers a 42-hour power reserve.
Priced at €3,800 with a leather strap and €3,950 with a steel bracelet, the Stratos UTC represents a significant price jump for Formex but justifies the increase with its high-quality movement and sophisticated design.
