De Rijke & Co. Capri: A New Direction In Rectangular Watchmaking

Dutch microbrand De Rijke & Co. continues its measured approach to watchmaking with the introduction of the Capri collection, a compact rectangular watch that combines architectural case design with semi-precious dial materials. Known for producing small, tightly curated collections, the brand shifts away from the motoring-inspired Amalfi and explores a more refined, minimalist aesthetic with this latest release.

The Capri is housed in a stainless steel rectangular case measuring 28.50 mm wide, 38 mm tall, and just 6.50 mm thick, giving it a slim profile well suited to both formal and everyday wear. The design is defined by a full-width dial that extends nearly edge to edge, framed only at the top and bottom by brushed horizontal bands. These bands conceal the lugs, creating a seamless visual transition between the case and strap while reinforcing the watch’s clean, uninterrupted geometry.

Three distinct versions of the Capri are available, each differentiated primarily by dial material and layout. The Capri Onyx features a polished black onyx stone dial with a glossy, mirror-like surface. Its design is intentionally restrained, displaying only skeletonised hour and minute hands, a discreet brand logo, and a “Dutch crafted” inscription. This version also introduces a rounded, onion-style crown that complements the watch’s softer visual character.

The Capri Black Aventurine uses a black aventurine stone dial, identifiable by its fine, crystalline sparkles that catch the light subtly across the surface. Like the Onyx version, it maintains a minimalist time-only display, but is paired with a taller, more angular crown design shared with the third model in the collection.

The Capri Blue stands apart with a lacquered blue dial rather than stone, and a more detailed configuration. Applied hour markers are added, along with a small seconds subdial positioned at six o’clock, giving this version a slightly more technical appearance while retaining the collection’s overall balance and symmetry.

Despite its compact rectangular format, the Capri is powered by a high-end manually wound Swiss movement: the La Joux-Perret D100. This movement offers a 50-hour power reserve and is notable for its thin construction, making it well suited to the Capri’s slim case dimensions. The choice of a mechanical calibre over quartz reinforces the watch’s positioning within the luxury microbrand segment.

Each Capri variant is limited to just 50 pieces, for a total production run of 150 watches. The collection is priced at € 2,195, reflecting the combination of Swiss mechanical movement, low production numbers, and the use of semi-precious materials. With the Capri, De Rijke & Co. delivers a tightly executed rectangular watch that emphasizes proportion, material selection, and mechanical credibility over excess ornamentation.
