Czapek Time Jumper: A Futuristic Tribute To Tradition
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of its modern revival, Czapek & Cie introduces a creation that bridges the brand’s 19th-century heritage with avant-garde design: the Czapek Time Jumper. Inspired by historical pocket watches, this limited-edition piece reinterprets the traditional montre à guichets concept with a strikingly modern approach, showcasing an innovative time display and a newly developed in-house movement.

A Contemporary Take on the Montre à Guichets
At first glance, the Time Jumper captivates with its smooth, pebble-shaped 40.5mm case, crafted in stainless steel and paired with a hinged lid that recalls the charm of vintage pocket watches. The cover, made of white gold and produced in collaboration with Metalem, features an exclusive guilloché pattern that draws the eye toward its center, creating the illusion of spiraling depth. A loupe-shaped opening in the middle reveals the jumping hour display, while the dragging minute disc is visible through an arched aperture at 6 o’clock.

The cover opens via a discreet pusher positioned between the lugs, allowing a clear view of the movement’s intricate mechanics. For collectors seeking a warmer and more luxurious aesthetic, Czapek also offers the Time Jumper in 3N yellow gold, featuring a matching guilloché lid that complements the case material beautifully.
A Complex and Rare Display
Czapek’s patent-pending display system redefines the traditional jumping hour complication through a unique approach. The mechanism employs two sapphire discs—one for single digits and another for tens—to create a 24-hour display, an uncommon feature in watchmaking. The minutes are laser-engraved on a large peripheral disc that rotates slowly around the movement, providing a smooth, continuous reading of time. Both the hours and minutes are coated with luminescent material, ensuring excellent legibility in dark environments.

This sophisticated configuration demonstrates the brand’s mastery of mechanical precision, with the hours jumping instantaneously and the minutes gliding seamlessly across their scale. The result is a visually striking display that harmoniously blends complexity, clarity, and contemporary design.
A New Mechanical Architecture: Calibre 10.01
The Time Jumper marks the debut of Czapek’s in-house Calibre 10, a new-generation automatic movement designed with an adaptable structure that will serve as a base for future developments. In this timepiece, it appears in its Calibre 10.01 iteration, equipped with a 24-hour jumping hour mechanism and dragging minutes.

Visible through the sapphire caseback, the movement reveals a skeletonised rotor crafted from recycled 950 platinum, surrounded by bridges arranged in concentric circles that create a dynamic play of light. The variable inertia balance wheel, fitted with four gold inertia blocks, operates at a frequency of 4Hz, ensuring precise timekeeping. Power is supplied by a single barrel that provides an impressive 60-hour power reserve.
Refined Details and Limited Availability
As expected from Czapek, every detail of the Time Jumper reflects high-end craftsmanship and modern finishing techniques. The architecture of the movement combines openwork geometry with polished bevels and fine brushing, producing an engaging depth that enhances the visual experience. The watch is fitted with a blue rubber strap secured by a steel or gold pin buckle, offering a comfortable fit and a modern touch that complements the watch’s innovative design.

Production of the Czapek Time Jumper is strictly limited. The stainless steel version is produced in 100 pieces and priced at CHF 42,000 excluding taxes, while the 3N yellow gold edition is limited to 30 pieces and priced at CHF 64,000 excluding taxes. In total, 180 Time Jumpers will be manufactured, including future variations and bespoke orders that will continue to evolve this remarkable concept.
